While I have posted before that I usually don't buy airfare until about 2-3 months out before traveling....I decided to check airfare late last night. My normal method is to first check on the Bestfares.com site and check out there airfares search. Well...I did just that....and...

I got RT from Cincy to Orlando for $121 on US Air in July.....each....

ok...so maybe I was a few months earlier than normal...;)

Thanks for posting. I've never heard of that site - with 3 more flights to get airfare for this year, I'll definitely have to check it out!

Cheers!

That's great Esmerelda! Congrats! I was wondering if you could explain the bestfares.com site. I heard it was membership only to get cheap fairs (how do they do it?!) . Is it worth it if you don't travel a lot?

I'm on their mailing list and I still don't get it! Thanks .

GCTong...go to the Bestfares homepage. Down the left side says "quickfare finder"...click on that. Chose your departure and arrival city. You will see rows of airfares. You have to watch dates though...make sure it will cover the time you are traveling. If it says "members only" you will have to join to get that fare. The one I found last night said USAir thru 8/2/06 on it so I hurried to their website and nabbed it. You also should try all airports within a 100 mile radius. Sometimes a short drive is worth it. We had intended on driving (uuuggghhh.....hate it) but with a fare that great..I couldn't say no.

Let me know if I can help you any further...and best of luck.

Esmerelda,
2 Questions,
When you book on quickfare, do you have to call the 800# to do so, or can you book it on the website?

Is this where you usually book your airfare?

Thanks

Patricia

I just went on that site and travel is only until 8/2, we are leaving a week later. Thank you - I will continue to keep checking. I think I understood it that you have to call to find out the details. Also, when it says 118.00 are they other charges added onto that?

check out southwest.. they are having awesome orlando rates right now!! I got mine for 49.00!

Hi PurtyPat1,

I did not book on their site. I use their site to see what is available on the domestic carriers to where I am traveling. This latest one just so happen to be on USAir (which I have flown many times before with no problems) so I pulled up the USAir website. I'm not sure about the 800 number there listed on Bestfare...it might just be a direct to that particular airline. I hope you have as much success with using that search engine as I do. This is probably the 4th or 5th time I have caught a great airfare from their page. I recently joined but have not received my paperwork back yet. I was a member about 6 years ago. I normally do not book this far out (4 months) but it was such a great deal. I got 4 RT tickets from Cincy to Orlando for right at $600. What a deal (in this day and age at least).

LuvDisney14, to answer your question....no. My tickets were $121 listed but my total at the end came up to $152 each. They added on taxes, surcharges, and fuel costs. It would be nice if they gave you the EXACT amount before you get to the final booking part. I still got a great deal though so I am not complaining.

pixie dust for great airfare to you both,
Esmerelda :goodvibes

THANK YOU ESMERALDA!!! That explains a LOT! I was getting so confused before and it was so simple.

Thank you, so now every week I will check bestfares, and if good I will call the correct airline. Thanks for the information.
