wow....bad reviews on TA for the beach club rooms..

To the OP - you are now starting to talk about the Villas vs. the Resort. There is a very large difference, IMO. The Villas, while I would not call them dingy or run-down are significantly less deluxe than the resort rooms in terms of both things like bedspreads, for example, and also in terms of looking "up to date." The Villas have a somewhat different theme and it's not as upscale as the resort rooms.

So my answer at the very beginning was based on the resort rooms. I have stayed in the villas numerous times though and would just say that they are not the same.

I hope more people read the bad reviews and stay away from the BC - more room for my family. It is our favorite of all of the Disney resorts.

Amen! We're staying there in August, and again in November...can't wait!

I have found over years of using Trip Advisor that the reviews when taken together paint a very accurate picture of a hotel. One bad review taken alone means very little, but when you begin to see a pattern there is usaully and issue that needs to be resolved.

I find that Trip Advisor members don't hesitate to share good reviews as well as bad reviews. I would suggest that when reading a bad review, it never hurts to review several of that particular member's previous reviews to see if they fall under the category of hating everything.

I have been amazed how accurate these reviews have been regarding places that my family has traveled to all over the world. Spot on in most cases.

I agree...we find the majority of the reviews on a particular spot from trip advisor to be pretty consistent as well.

I just went back and checked the Coronado Springs review on TA.

Out of the first 20, 8 were either disappointed or didn't like it at all.

I'm curious why the OP would be so quick to believe the bad reviews about BC, but then disregard the ones about CS?

I would read the DIS resort threads to get more accurate reviews about either resort.

I think with any source of reviews you have to read them and apply them to your situation.

For example, lots of people here complain about the lack of food court or quick service options at the deluxes. Since I don't like food courts, that would not be a negative to me.
So when I read any review I apply the pros and cons on my situation.

That's why I actually like bad reviews because some thing that a review finds annoying might be some thing that comes in handy for my family. The same thing about "glowing" reviews. If some one tells me a certain place has the best steak they ever tasted, I'm a bit skecptical. not because they are wrong but more because I lived in an area reknowned for their beef.

You have to pick through the information.

BC is by far our favorite on site resort. To us, there is nothing even close.

That being said it is quite obvious that all of Disney's resorts are overpriced for what you get. I mean are the All Stars rooms better than a Hampton or Red Roof Inn? In reality no, but you have to consider what else you are paying for. Free transportation from the airport and back on Magical Express. Free bus (or boat or monorail depending on which resort and level you stay at) to the parks, and most of all the convenience of staying on property. In years past the service level was also a reason to pay more but as a whole I think that has dropped a bit, though there are certainly those that are over and above anyone any place else (Teena at the BC is an example of service excellence) but I think it has crepped closer to the norm over the last 10 years or so.

I for one am more than happy to pay an extra chunk of change each night to be totally immersed in all things Disney. You can't put a price on convenience. I'll take my short walk to Epcot, my character breakfast at Cape May and the beautiful Storm Along Bay over jumping in a car and driving two + miles to get to where I need to be.

The only time I ever read Trip Advisor is when I needed information about the Farfield Inn & Suites in Cleveland, Tennessee. When I want honest reviews about any of the Walt Disney World Resorts I will read the threads on here.

gonna stick with CSR first choice, AKL second, WL third.....I messaged a few people who recently stayed at the BCV and BWV, they are not saying good things, bugs all over the rooms at night, holes in the window screens, stains on carpets, room needing lots of repairs (ewwwww), dirty filthy grout in BR...CSR doesnt have all the negatives about the rooms, no biggie, we added an extra night...got the car already and we really do like going all over to eat having 9 nights of DXDP, i.e. Narcoosees, California Grill, , etc......so driving is no biggie....I will drive my parents around, they have done enough for me over the years, its the least I can do, and I don't mind, we valet park everywhere we go:cool1: I actually liked the CSR when I went for breakfast at the Maya Grill 2 years ago...pool is very nice....lots of nice walking paths..I like convenience too but $1500+ dollars for the BCV over CSR just doesnt do it for me...I would rather DH go on 3 bass fishing excursions:grouphug::cheer2:.I hope he is reading this, lol.whooo hoooo, come one Monday, lol.

We stayed 8 nights at Beach Club resort and everything about the room was perfect and I'm a complete clean freak! The new decor in the rooms is gorgeous and not one bit shabby. Also close friends of our's stay at BCV for 2 weeks every year and they absolutely love it! One of the things I will miss while staying at Poly this year is the pretty BC rooms. I hope you enjoy CSR.

You've got to remember that TA caters to travelers of all sorts... some may not have much dealing with WDW... and in all fairness, $400 a night is a lot to pay for what we get at WDW... even as an avid fan of Disney, I always think of what that gets me in Vegas, NYC, or Cali and shake my head... I just came back from a trip to Vegas in January where I had a luxurious 1400 sq foot suite for $300 a night...

Just returned from a 8-day stay at BCV and everything was fine. We stayed in a one bedroom villa for the first time and in the 15 consecutive yrs. that we have been going to WDW, this was, by far, the nicest room of all. We have stayed also in a Studio and the regular room. Never any problems! We have also stayed at BWI, BWV, GF and POR. Loved them all!! The only problem we have had in 15 yrs. was a bug one time at POR. I am sure that CSR is a nice resort but don't condemn BC if you have never stayed there. Try it, you might like it!!!:)

Oh my goodness, I am really going to miss our yearly vegas trip this year. We usually stay Concierge at The Palazzo or Wynn:lovestruc but we are going to have lots of fun at Disney!!

If you are researching online, and this is my rule of thumb for rooms on TripAdvisor and everything else on Amazon, disregard the 5 star and the 1 star reviews, because the honest truth will be somewhere in the middle.

Just use common sense when reading through the TA reviews. Even the people who say this is my only negative review seem to have an ax to grind. It is a vent site, there vacation may have been horrible and it had nothing to do with the room, everything just bothered them at that point. Other people are just nuts. I don't know if I;m allowed to do this so sorry if I'm not but I just find this so out there and hilarious
TA review-

I had no kleenix in the room. Silly, right? At first, I thought that was normal. I figured it was some sort of "green" thing. So, we used toilet paper. The turn-down service was just that: They turned down the bed and left chocolates. They didn't straighten anything up. They didn't update the amenities. Nothing. Just turned down the bed, left chocolates and they left. The last night...they didn't even leave chocolates.

And, speaking of just leaving: The cleaning crew left everything. The towels where they were, the dirty plates. Everything. I don't know if it is a Disney thing but they didn't touch anything. Not even to clean it. After day two (2) I figured that if I put everything in a pile in the middle of the floor, the cleaning crew would take it.

And, the amenities. Let's talk about them. Oh wait. I can't. During my four-night stay, I got one set. This is when I arrived and that was it. By the last night, we were rationing soap. Thank goodness we travel with our own shampoo.

Now, before you start thinking that I was on the phone whining to the manager, think again. I never complained to the manager, not once during my stay.

Why?

Because, the Animal Kingdom Lodge knew that I was paying $435.00 a night for my room. And, they knew it was sub-standard when they put me in it. The only complaint I made was when I first checked in. I called and verified if this was really my room. I asked them to check. They said yes. I asked if my room had been inspected and they said yes. The woman said that they had "stringent" quality controls at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Okay. Then, I didn't have to call the manager to tell them it was sub-standard. They apparently already knew it since they had quality controls in place. And, since I was paying $435.00 a night for a room, I was pretty sure that my room was at the top of the list for quality control.

...All I can see is the pile of dirty plates and towels in the middle of the room for a couple days...why would you not call and complain???

LOL. Im not sure why they didn't complain. but have you seen what happens here when people make a complain. You get what I call the "standard" responses.

1) You are in Disney, you're not there for the room (or evidently the food, because you get that excuse for bad food.) lol

2) I don't let things like that ruin my vacation. You're too picky.

3) You're at Disney, not every one gets to go to disney. You should be genuflecting just for the pleasure of being here, no matter how youre treated.

I'm being a little tongue in cheek, don't take me too serious

I am surprised how many negative reviews for the beach club rooms...for that price, that is a shame.......good reviews on the pools/grounds/lobbies but yuck! My mother would have a fit, if her room was "shabby" for those prices.......lol. I think I will stay with FD @ CSR, refurb was done..less dining options but we have a car and no little ones......
Looking at the numbers on TA, I find 88% of the review to be positive reviews. Doesn't look like an issue to me, nor did we find any issues with anything at the resort other than pool hoppers who were quickly escorted from the pool when we stayed there last year.

While you are being tounge in cheek, there is a gigantic difference between complaining on a fan-based message board and complaining to management for subpar service!
There in lies the problem! I don't know why so many people, especially here, post that they had a bad experience and now that they are home, want to email management about it. It doesn't make sense to me!
If you go to a resturaunt and order your steak well done, and they bring it out rare, do you tell the waiter right then, or do you eat the steak, and then go home and post a negative review on steakhouse.com (I am making that website up, I hope!)

We went to Sandals in Antigua for our 25th aniversary. After reading the TA reviews we were seriously wondering if we made a monumental mistake. We had a wonderful time and couldn't understand were these negative reviews were comming from. We ran into a couple who did nothing but complain about the place. The other couple we were with turned to them and asked if we were all staying at the same resort. You really do have to take the TA reviews with a grain of salt. Some people like to complain about everything. In fact I tend to think they are not happy unless they have something to complain about.

We stayed at BCV in '09 and found the rooms and mousekeeping to be spectacular. We'll be returning in 6 weeks. It's not the newest, but it's absolutely beautiful and fits our tastes perfectly.
