Wow, a 2-day trip is expensive!

We are going on one of the DCL-LA cruises next summer. We thought we'd come a couple of days early and go to DL. I don't know why, but I'm shocked at how much a two day, two park ticket is for us (fam of 5 and oldest is over 10). We go to WDW every year but get annual passes through DVC and time our trips to get 3 weeks out of the passes so it's not that bad.

Is there any way to get a discount? Is it just that a two day ticket is the most expensive way to do it? We might have to pass on DL. I can't see spending almost $300 per day (plus meals and such). I'd rather save the money for the cruise I think.

I really wanted to see DL. I hate to fly so I don't think I'd do another trip just for DL.

I think it's just like WDW tickets, where the longer you stay the 'cheaper' it gets.

Are you only looking at tickets, or a package? Where are you looking? I'm sure people would like to help if they can. :)

We'll either use our DVC points to stay onsite, or use my hubby's Marriott points to stay in a Residence Inn nearby. I guess that means no package, just tickets.

When I was budgeting for the trip I was so caught up in paying for the cruise I didn't think about the overall cost of DL.

It would be such a shame to miss out on DL. You could save a little by skipping DCA (I wouldn't want to, but it saves $$), and get a single day non-hopper to DL.
If you wanted to save your various points you could stay off site. There are some amazing deals out there if you know where and how to ask for them.
And food costs can be managed.
It really is too bad Disney didn't include the option of a land/sea vacation out here. They had an opportunity to capture more vacation $$. Families like this could choose to do Universal or Sea world insted of DL b/c of the cost. If it had been wrapped up in there overall cruise cost it would probably seemed easier to swallow.
