Wow, 800 point resale...

if the member bought the 800 points on one contract, then they cannot break the contract up into little ones. when the member purchased the 800 points their guide should had suggested that they purchase the 800 points into smaller contracts, if they were ever to sell off points, they could sell off the smaller contracts.

will anyone ever purchase they 800 points, you never know,
is it going for a good price? maybe we can get some dvc members to go in together to buy it

That is what I meant. Seems their guide should have told them to buy smaller contracts.

It might have been a corporate purchase, designed to allow the company to take GVs from time to time for employee retreats or rewards.

Given that the points are at OKW, its possible these were purchase eons ago....before the 'problems' with reselling large single contracts were well known.

For $68/pt, i'd be surprised if Disney didn't exercise their rights of first refusal....they'd profit about $16k or so minus the closing costs.

AHem! I believe bongo would be TIED for 13th place with 2 others.....

Our 1000 is divided into 5 contracts and 2 UYs 200,230 OKW 170,130 BCV and 270 BWV...

I know Terry has 800 or 900 all at BCV but divided into smaller contracts.

actually we have 1500 points because two of our original contracts were added two in 94 and 95 ........so we have 500 okw 500 at bw and 250 at WL and 250 at BCV.........and this weekend we may add some more at saratoga if we like what we see.........

Hey, I must have gotten bumped. I thought I was there at one time. We have 1000 points all at BCV! Yes, we have several smaller contracts. I think 6 of them.

Okay, so I just went and looked it up. We have 7 contracts, the last one ends in .006. The amounts are 170, 170, 150, 150, 160, 100, 100. Total = 1000

Well, I thought my 400 points were something to be proud of. It is to laugh.

To those of you like Terry, Laura and Bongo... The recent common "wisdom" here is to break your purchase up into several smaller contracts. That way it's easier to sell off a portion of your membership. But it seems to me that it's a disadvantage all the rest of the time. Since I have no intentions to ever sell, the rest of the time is much more important to me.

I'm sure it's not a horrible burden to manage things, but if DVC gave you an opportunity to combine all of your contracts at each resort into single contracts, would you?

I also have six contracts, the largest being 450. I wish I knew enough at the time to break that down into smaller ones. I added 150 points the very next day, and almost just voided that one out and make a 600 point job. I am glad I didn't do that!

I can not think of any good reason to have a single large contract versus several smaller ones. It is a seamless process on every level, from billing, to making reservations.

Jimbo, as Maistre Gracey said, it really is seamless for me at least since they are all at the same resort and the same use year they are just treated like a total of 1000 as far as MS goes. I don't really plan on selling them either, but you never know what might happen. The other reason to split them up when you buy them is so they can be given to my childern seperately.

no......i would not do that......flexiblity is always better to have than not to have.......break your purchases up and never bunch them......we are not planning on ever selling either.....but let just say my wife falls for the pool guy.......???? then i have no choice in a divorce settlement or even i death with multiple beneficieries.......not that i am expecting this........but it makes a point why flexibility is important......

Sadly, I am not even close....430, I feel humbled.

I remember a 2,000 point resale there years ago, it languished for months, I do remember it being priced low, like this one, slightly below what we were considering the ROFR number at the time....if I remember correctly, there was a sale and it was bought by Disney at ROFR.
