Scene - We are taking DS next January, first trip, will be turning 8.

Would you make Main Street your first day/first stop? Or would you take the train around to the Fantasyland stop and start exploring there first?

I haven't been to that part of the park since it was Mickey's Toontown...and I know we will end up there eventually. I'm just wondering if it would be a good place to start....and then work our way forward. We will be there for 13 days, so going back to the park multiple is on our agenda. I'm just torn my idea of magic and what his idea of magic might be. I would go up Main Street and then Adventureland. But it's not just about me (oh, and DW too) anymore.

Thoughts?

We took our DS5 last week for his first trip...we walked down Main Street (with our prepark opening ADR for 8:05am at Crystal Palace) and he was in awe of the castle. He was able to spend about 10 mins playing in the garden area outside of Crystal Palace, while we waited to check in and we snapped some pics. After breakfast we headed left to Adventure & Frontier lands.

What's the goal? Faster way to Fantasyland or a ride on the train? I would just walk up Main St. to where ever you wanted to go.

I agree with Main Street with the view of the Castle and then off to Tomorrowland for Space and Buzz. Or, Adventureland if he is into pirates.

The train to Fantasyland bypasses the grand entry into the park and delivers your 8 year-old son into a very Princessy area.

Main street for sure! That iconic walk up to the castle is something not to be missed. From there, you can go wherever you have planned, but that first view should be of the castle.
