Would YOU work for Disney?

If you were given the chance to work in WDW do you think you would take it - and if so what would be your dream job?

If money was no object - as I am sure that the pay there isn't that great - I would love to spend my days helping people in the World.
I would love to do a job that involved meeting people near the main gate of MK - such as the security guards or working the turnstiles. I know it doesnt sound that glamorous but I think it would be a good way to spend my days - seeing the excited, smiley faces on those that are visiting for the first time :goodvibes

My husband was offered a job at Disney quite a few years back... and turned it down. He was getting four weeks of vacation time working for the Gov't of Canada, and Disney would have offered him much, much less... maybe a week? Plus much longer hours. He did definitely approve of the policy of making management work a day or two in the park every month, but that also added to the longer hours since it wasn't counted into the regular work week. He was also warned there was a "culture of overtime".

Working for Disney would also mean giving up a lot of things we'd come to take for granted - like a top notch bus system. I can't drive due to my eyes, so that would be tough.

In the end my husband decided he didn't want to give up his time with his family for a lower standard of life in Orlando.

That said, my son is eagerly waiting until he's old enough to apply for a job as a Foreign Student worker in Disney! He wants to work in the Canadian pavilion in Epcot. :thumbsup2 I think it'll be awesome if he succeeds, and I think he'll love the job.

Also, apparently Disney hires elderly retirees - we had a lovely chat with one near the monkey cages in Animal Kingdom. So there's something we can all look forward to doing some day. :goodvibes

I think I belong working for Disney. It's not always magical and it is tough... but to be a part of the magic makes it all worth it to me.

I'd like to either work at AKL looking after the Savannah animals, I loved watching the giraffes follow the CM's trucks.

Or at EPCOT with the Manatees.

I would love to be a monorail pilot or one of the drivers that takes people to and from the DVC tours at Saratoga Springs.

I'd like to work at one of the KidCot stops in Animal Kingdom. :goodvibes

I'd love to be friends with the characters.
Working on rides, ToT mostly. They always seem to have lots of fun in that role.
Or working in the UK pavilion at Epcot.

I know it's not a Disney job but I'd love to drive the little purple van. I love the photos that get posted here and the idea of visiting so many resorts is very appealing.

I think Id like to work at Epcot - my favourite park or drive the steam train round the park at Magic Kingdom

Yes, i'd love to be a seamstress making the costumes for all the CMs and characters. If i'd decided to go down the sewing rather than kids route for my career then maybe this would have been a reality, who knows! No regrets though :goodvibes

Me and Henry discuss this often :rotfl:

Henry wants to work on Big Thunder Mountain or in the UK in Epcot.

I would like to be a character - one of the chipmunks preferably :lmao:

I'm a physician and have often thought about providing some type of urgent care for guests at WDW. In my dream, I'd travel to the different resorts, use an infirmary-type room in the resort to evaluate and treat folks taken ill while on vacation. So, guests wouldn't have to go off-site for care, and I could visit all the resorts.

Of course I realize this is a dream as WDW would never get involved in the legalities of running such a clinic.

If I did this, I'd go to the parks EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. seriously, I would.

I wouldn't want to have a job where I have to be uber nice to people all the time, no thanks. So, that excludes all the other jobs, except perhaps Imagineers.

I'd love to be a wedding planner working for Disney Fairy Tale Weddings - I love the idea of driving the Purple Van too :thumbsup2

when we were there last March we saw a cm having to shovel horse poo off main street. I turned to hubby and said dont fancy that job do you to which he replied " shovelling s@@t in Disney couldnt think of a better job !!"

So yes after a while both DH and I decided we would do just about anything if it meant working in the magic!!

On a more personal note though we are both going to volunteer time at Give kids the world when our littleones are old to be left - now that will be a dream come true :-)

I would be happy being a coach driver out there, Ive often thought this would be a great thing to do when im abit older!

I could also see my self re-creating my role in Indiana Jones ( I was the star of the show in my last trip to WDW In February ), I think that show would be a great laugh and you get to take the mickey out of everyone!

Would I work for disney? I would bloody love too!! :goodvibes

...and that's why I've applied for the International College Program for Summer 2011.

...and I'd pretty much be happy doing any job they throw at me, just being part of all that magic would be more than enough.

Then again, the program is only for 2 months - not sure if I could "shovel s**t" on Main St for longer than that ;) Also, like others have said, the money isn't fantastic - but I don't think anyone does it for the money entirely. I'm certainly not...

Just have to wait for the interviews now. :confused3

I would love to work at Disney, i would love to work with the animals at animal kingdom
My DD wants to be a vet and i said ooh wouldnt it be good if you could be a vet at AK and she said NO :rotfl2: kids

I'm another one who would love to be a Disney Wedding Planner.

I was thinking just today about working for Disney, but perhaps in the UK at the London office. Still work for the mouse that way but hopefully slightly better pay

Has anyone ever looked into this and/or know where they advertise jobs? I spent half an hour searching the web earlier but the corporate sites only listed the US jobs and all other searches just brought up Disney Store or Disneyland Paris jobs...

I'm not sure where they advertise them, but according to the people on the College boards, there is a shortage on available jobs.

People who are doing the college program at WDW are trying to get a job there on leaving, but nothing is available. Seems that even Disney has to limit its staff during these tough times :confused3
