Would you use this photo commercially?

This is one of my daughters. I'm not asking from a security standpoint, but whether it conveys a message well. I have a DJ business where I use bubbles and music for daycares and children's parties.

I have other photos as well, but on a non photography board ( A DJ Board ) people are saying it would work really well. I just think that the background is too dark.

sure, but make sure your model is fairly compensated...

I am not a photographer in any sense of the word. And I have no idea how to do that with any software either. I just grab a camera, point, and shoot! If I get something I like, cool! If not, well, I'm used to it!

I made adjustments in the shadows and highlights, upped the saturation accross the board, and then took out a little red as it made her arm glow a bit. As I said, I am very new at the whole 'fixing' thing, someone else could do a much better job and explain it better I am sure.

looks like ya did a pretty darn good job to me...

I like the lightened one much better. I'm assuming you want to convey a feeling of happiness or joy so that works well.

Here's one using selective coloring. I think I like it more than the blur but both were 2 minutes jobs,lol. I am by far no pro....I just like to play with photo editing software,lol.

I agree, I think its a wonderful picture, but the background is distracting, and she seems to be alone, if your trying to advertise your business, it should seem more like a party atmosphere. But that is just my opinion.

I think it depends on how you want to portray business. Are you a small friendly family business, or do yo uwant to appear larger and more corporate? I think this shot is fine for a small business that wants to look small, but not if you want to look larger and more high end.
I don't think the blur works or the overall lightining. I think if you pulled the subject out a little and lightned her, added some highlights to the bubbles, and made the background darker it would work much better. It still gets across the idea that bubble machines are fun as is though.

Cute kid... but issues of lightness/darkness and skin tone aside, I'm not too wild about the composition. The right hand is cut off (I think the left arm crop is OK) and there's a lot of "dead area" at the top of the image. If you cut out the dead area the resulting image is too square for my tastes.

On of the things I've learned about the photo business is that people tend to way under-crop images. Getting rid of "dead space" is the quickest way to make a photo more appealing.
