When did you notify Dollar? Within hours, same day, days later, or just when you returned the car? And how long did you have the rental?
I think what they gave you was cheesy. But it depends on how you handled it on your end.
Guess I would have complained right away. Or would like to think I would. But I know how busy, busy, busy a Disney vacation can be, without throwing something like that in the mix too.
 
I would have called them as soon as I discovered the problem and have them bring a replacement car.I guess they figure since you drove it the entire time without a complaint that it couldn't have been that much of an inconvenience.
