would you take a 7 yeo to a britney concert?

I have a 7 year old niece who'd love to see BS, but there's no way I'd take her. Her parents would say no way, also. BS isn't suitable for young girls.

No, I wouldn't take a young child to a Britney concert. Here's the thing she's an adult so why would a little kid be at her concert just about all of her fans are adults.

While it sounds like Brittany's concert is pretty innappropriate (don't know much about her as neither I nor my kids care for her music--all I really know is DS says she can't dance and needs to stop tyring in the videos he has seen:rotfl2:), young kids can and DO enjoy concerts by adult artists who make music with adult audiences in mind. Some children's music is relaly well done, but a lot of it is jsut terrbile and some kids do have much better taste than that. I have night owl kids and they have been to and ENJOYED (and not been a disturbance at) a number of concerts (we always take ear plugs to dappen the nooise somewhat). DDs favourite was Kenny Loggins. I think the kids wer 6 and 8 for that one. DSs favourite was Melissa Etheridge last summer (he was 9).

I took DD12 to see Britney (and Jordin Sparks) last Saturday night and have to disagree with these posts. The worst thing she saw was Britney on a pole which was no big deal because at 12 she had no frame of reference for pole-dancing:laughing:

The concert is circus-themed and had three rings with lots of "circus-type" entertainment including acrobats and clowns, that sort of thing. As for lyrics, I bought the circus CD a few weeks ago to listen to myself and then we listened to it together so we'd know all the words, lol. Can't think of anything on that CD inappropriate for a child.

The crowd at the concert was better than I had imagined and better than any county fair that I've been to:rotfl: Why not go and if you feel that it is inappropriate leave? I think you'll find out that your family will enjoy themselves. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and certainly nothing that is going to leave lasting damage;)

Bolding is mine..I dont know what the age of a singer has to do with the age of the fans. A few weeks ago, me, DD10, my cousin and her BF , went to the Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, and Poison concert. DD10 listens to their music, and she was one of the youngest there. Besides 1 curse word that was it. She had a BLAST, I had a blast and we really enjoyed our time together.

OP They are old enough for concerts (DD's first concert was at 3) but BS may be a little graphic.

I don't get that logic either...is my daughter who is 9 only supposed to like singers that are her age????
My 9 year old and I are going to a Kiss concert next month- I have always liked Kiss and I find it funny that many of the old bands I liked she is into too. She loved Billy Joels concert at Shea Stadium and thanks to guitar hero and rock band she is into a lot of classic rock. Unfortunatly she does like the Jonas Brothers and I sat through that whole no-talent concert with her but I am glad she likes come good old fashioned rock and roll so we can hit some concerts together.

The concert (if it's the Circus concert) opens like a circus then in goes into some bondage type thing-not for kids. If Kelly opens up take them to see her then leave before Britney comes on. But honestly if the concert is at night (like most are) your kids will be tired and cranky and it will be loud. They probably wouldn't enjoy it.

I just don't understand the logic here. Unless your kids never listen to radio and don't know any of the current music :confused3

As for the concert being at night, if I avoided night time concerts we'd have never been to the symphony either. Or the local theatre. Or fireworks. I think that if you know how much sleep your child needs and adjust the schedule accordingly (naps help), night events can be very worthwhile.

And I second the advice on ear plugs -- kids have such good hearing that they really don't need to go with their ears unprotected. The last thing we attended was a Tattoo -- lots of marching bands and guns and bagpipes -- that was the loudest thing we've attended yet. My DD needed the earplugs that night.

Even the Jonas Brothers concert was at night- and it ended after 11. Actually that was one of the loudest concerts I have ever been to too- glad I had ear plugs for me AND my daughter!

Since PatsGirl and I are the only ones on this thread who have actually SEEN the new Britney concert, it's interesting that we both agree that it would be absolutely fine to take younger girls to see it - if the content, etc. is what you are worried about. As far as noise, crowds, and being up late, those are personal decisions I can't make for you.

But honestly, her costumes were very much circus-themed and I've seen exactly the same slinky spangled stuff on the girls in the real circus many times.

She doesn't dance sexually unless you call a gyration or two of her hips sexual - it's typical for that style dancing and it's high energy with backup dancers. Yes, there are a couple of racy routines - the guys showing their abs and stuff, but honestly unless you paid to see them from the front row you are going to be seeing a little blur - it just is not that blatant.

I took my two daughters and some of their friends - because one of the friends bagged at the last minute and we would have wasted a $95.00 ticket. The girls were excited that I was willing to go and I had a great time. And we saw all ages of girls there, with and without moms.
