Would you switch to CB?

We are arriving this Saturday for a three night stay. Originally had reservations at ASMU, but changed to POP for $20 more per night. I see that CB is available for $8 more a night. I know there is construction there, but how bad can it be? We’ve never stayed there, and I’m tempted to try something new.

If you are not concerned if you are inconvenienced, go for it. My family does not do well woth construction so I would avoid CBR like I woudl avoid the plague, but some folks don't notice. ZI would go over to the CBR thread and ask how the conditions are now. The folks there can give you realistic feed back so you can make an informed decision.

I am usually the first to suggest a moderate over a value, as they just work better for our vacation style, but I would not recommend CBR, especially now. We didn't like it before the construction and everything that I have seen recently I would want to avoid on my vacation.

Just read some posts on it, does not sound good! Just wish I could afford to switch to POR, love that place! But this was a last minute trip with a good deal on flights and using our APs, otherwise we wouldn’t be going at all. Thanks!

I never had any problem in 2 construction stays in CBR. (But in staying deluxe, I’ve learned to avoid most QS at the resort). Although we didn’t plan much resort time, either.

As far as being remote, CBR seemed comparable distance to amenities as staying at Alligator Bayou at POR.

I think CBR is a fine resort for park-heavy stays, if you need a sleep 5 option.

But I’m not quite sure what other advantage CBR has over the newly renovated POP.

I would keep my POP reservation. The newly renovated rooms look awesome! and it is a great resort.

Check out the CBR thread for recent opinions. I had the chance to switch there for less than Pop but declined due to the lack of food options currently. (I’m not eating in a tent in July.)

I think the “eating in a tent” was the main reason to stick with POP. We don’t spend a lot of time at any resort, so I don’t think the construction would bother us that much. But I can’t imagine eating outside in the heat! I’m guessing if we are preferred view at POP the gondola construction won’t even be noticeable?

Thanks everyone, you made my decision easier, and saved me some $$$$!

Tom Bricker on Disneytouristblog.com just posted a pretty detailed update of the construction at Caribbean with pictures, so maybe take a look there. We were looking at Pop for a short, kid-free trip next month, but we went with Coronado, which was also only a relatively small jump over Pop. Between Caribbean and Coronado, Coronado seemed like the much better option during construction (never stayed there though, did stay at Caribbean two years ago pre-construction and liked it).

FYI
The “tent” is more of a pre-fab semi-permanent soft-wall enclosure with a/c vs the typical wedding tent.

But I support your choice to remain at POp
