Would you squeeze in just 1 hour at MK on arrival night?

If you go this route book a towncar. $67 one way. A cab is $100. We just paid it last week.

DD just paid $50 plus tip from MCO a couple months ago-and it stopped for groceries. Could it have gone up that much?

Are you trying to tell me that my wife is lying to me???

She would NEVER do that and keep $50 for herself.

Were you staying at CR?
Just asking because from some of the outer resorts to CR can add up pretty quick. Some are about 20 minutes apart.

For the same price as adding park hopper, about $60 bucks, you could buy tix for MNSSHP and stay till midnight. Plus, you wouldn't use a day on your park tickets. MNSSHP is a separate event and doesn't require using your myw pass.

I agree, why not just go to the party?

The biggest reason to avoid an arrival night party is that OP could have an unexpected flight delay. Tickets are nonrefundable/nontransferable, so advanced purchase would be risky, and waiting until you arrive could risk a sell out. Since party tickets can get you into MK as early as 4pm, the value of the ticket would be significantly decreased if arriving after 7pm.

I've been told the rule of thumb is to expect it to take you three hours from the time your plane lands until you can be in a park--and that's if everything goes completely smoothly. .

That's a pretty good rule of thumb I think. The shortest time we have ever made it to a park from landing I think was 2 hours. I think normally it is around 2 1/2 hours when we usually get into a park. We are the type that get off ME, check in, and spend about 5 minutes in the room (drop off carry ons, bathroom turns, and a quick look out window at the view), before heading straight to a park.

That does it....I'm telling my wife that jade1 from the internet says you owe me $25. I'll report back and let yall know how it went. What could go wrong?

That's the best thing I've read all day! Let us know how that works out ;)

To the OP, depending on when you go, there is a good chance there would still be tickets to the party available at the gate. That way you haven't committed the money until you are on the ground, and you could always leave it as a surprise to DD that you are going to the party, in case it sells out, or it's raining, or your flight is delayed. To me, though, MNSSHP to kick off the week (and first trip, if I remember correctly) would be awesome.
