Would you spontaneously take your family to WDW for $1800 for Christmas?

I priced out a trip last night that would included leaving on Christmas Day and staying through Sunday. Three day park pass. We would drive - 6 hours.

HS, MK, and Epcot.

Without food it was about $1800.

Would you do it?

We JUST went in September.

It would totally go on a credit card and get paid back with taxes! Hmmmm.

Of course, it would not be the "responsible" thing to do. :santa:

Err...

**** Yeah!

:thumbsup2

Me, I wouldn't, only because I would rather put that money into a longer vacation at a less busy time of year. But I say go for it if it's what you really want to do! You only live once. :)

True. True.

I did find the Frozen dessert party on our arrival day, 1900 Park Fare dinner, and Multiple Candlelight Processionals.

Genuinely - thank you for taking me down a notch.

I will save money for next year!

Nope.

You said it yourself it isn't the responsible thing to do and if you don't have 1800 in savings to pay for it I wouldn't spend money that don't already have in hand. I would view it slightly different if this was your only chance to go, but you just went so there is no reason to blow money you don't even have on a trip. I would be afraid a major issue would come up I would need the money for that. Plus think of the interest you are paying on the trip between booking now and you actually get your tax return. It is probably another few hundred dollars not to mention anything else you charge.

The other reason I'd say no, I'd never go to WDW at one of the busiest times to go, but that is just me. Would be no fun to wait, wait and wait some more. Again, my personal preference. To pay money I didn't have to just enjoy the atmosphere and few rides not worth it, again especially since you just went.

As of right now, at least parties of 2 can book FP+ for anything except the usual suspects (7DMT, A&E, Wishes etc). (I have a vacation right after New Years and since I have leftover No Expiration Option tickets I could check the entire 60 day window). Once the 30 day window opens all bets are off. So, if you're going to do it, I'd decide quickly (if your staying onsite).

I have done that before. I would if it was not too much of a financial hardship... there are a few auctions up for that week too for the DVCs on EBAY. a 1 bedroom Saratgoa springs for Dec. 20-27 for $1500

I just got Akershus breakfast yesterday and have seen a bunch of 1900 PF and I just got A&E Fps finally we are about 33 days out so you can get them if you are diligent in watching.

I am totally not telling you to take on debt but with a Disney Visa cc you would have 6 months at no interest to pay off the trip.

Nope.

A. Its too crowded.
B. Its TOO crowded.
C. ITS TOO CROWDED.
D. I would never spend money that I don't have on something as unnecessary as an impulse vacation. And then spend more money that I don't have for months of interest charges.

Not if I didn't have the money. Things don't always work out as planned.

After 15 years of ALWAYS paying my entire credit card bill monthly, I now have a few thousand dollars in debt which prove that tax returns don't always come through, bonuses don't always come through, hours at a job that seemed really stable can get cut, the government can shut down and hold your paycheck for several weeks, etc. Also, car transmissions go, pipes burst in a rental house, etc.

I also wouldn't want to do it "last minute." That is too stressful to me with the holidays. I would want to plan it out.

We did this! We were just there in March of this year, but decided to take our kiddos back for one last hurrah this year for part of their Christmas gift. We are going for 3 (5 with travel days) days with park hopper, staying at POP, and our total came out right at $1600. We slapped it on the credit card when we booked in September and already have it paid off, so I don't feel TOO bad :thumbsup2 Also, we booked for the first week in December because there is NO WAY you will ever catch me at Disney on the actual week of Christmas!

Never. The weeks between Christmas and New Year's are No Gos for us, ever. I wouldn't subject myself to those crowds if Disney paid ME $1800 to go.

Absolutely! We are doing exactly that. We just went in August, but booked a mid-December trip at POFQ with 4 day Park Hoppers for just under $2K. Totally worth it just to see the Christmas stuff at MK and DHS.

Although it would be very, very tempting, I would pass it up just because of the crowds.

I think you've made a wise decision. :)

It is killing me!

This is what I will be doing instead. :laundy:

And doing this until next year...:hourglass

no

I wouldn't do it because of the crowds and the ages of your kids. At five, your oldest is JUST at the age where he/she will be able to remember things for years. And your one-year-old -- nope. Wait until the kids are at least a couple years older and they can really appreciate it.

If I it wasn't a financial hardship and my dh could get the time off from work, absolutely. I have never seen the holiday decorations at WDW, only DL.

I'm a bad one to ask b/c I like using plastic and am spontaneous. I would LOVE to be there on New Years...some day I will even though I know it'll be crowded as all get out. But if you can hold off a year and plan to go early Dec you can still see all the pretty decorations and don't have to deal with the crazy crowds. It's bad but I sorta of live by "YOLO".
