Would you split up your days at DLR?

I'm planning my first trip to DLR, and plan on getting 4 day park hoppers. I have a 2 & 5 year old - would you do 2 days, take one day "off" (we have relatives in CA we would visit), and then back to Disney for 2 days? Or keep yourself in the Disney "bubble" I've heard about and do 4 days in a row? We plan on being pretty relaxed with our schedule - maybe spend the entire day there the first day, but the rest of the days, go back to the hotel for afternoon naps. We won't be staying onsite, but within walking distance.

My family doesn't seem to be able to take hotel breaks LOL We just can't get away :) Our breaks would be a show or lunch. We prefer to do 2-3 days, a break, the the other 2 days. Our break day is a pool day, or beach day.

IF you split up your stay would you stay with your relatives in CA? And is the hotel cost the same if you do 2 days + 2 days vs 4 day visit? I assume you have a car? I haven't been to DL yet myself so can't comment on the logistics, but this is something I know we would consider in your situation. (We even have the possibility of 1 day at the beginning , then tour LA and then return for our main stay at DL - also offsite).

I would take the break in the middle of our trip. It's always nice to give your feet a break.

And we only go back to the hotel mid-day if we have to. Last fall it was just too hot so had to take an afternoon break. We're hoping for more tolerable weather in November.

I think I would take a couple days break with children that young. We now do our So Cal days on the beginning or the end to stay in the Disney bubble. Having said that, we always take midday breaks if staying on Disney property.

We always take a mid day break, but we go when they have the extended park hours.

We like to settle in and do all our days in a row, but I think a break day is a nice idea, as long as it's a low key relaxing break!

It really depends on your groups personalities. I think if we took a break in the middle of the trip - we might've lost our stamina. But I could also see how a one day break would work really well for some people. We always have to take afternoon breaks though, or it would be melt down city! We averaged 10 miles a day in walking and didn't really use the stroller. That's a lot of walking for little legs :)

I think splitting it up is good. You will walk many miles each day that you are there and giving your legs a rest is helpful. Also, there is constant noise in the parks. A break from the crowds and noise is a good idea.

During your visit to see relatives is it just for the day or overnight? If just for the day then yes that might be a good option to have a break midway, if it's overnight then I would do it at the beginning or end of the trip. We get 5 day PHs and like to take a day off after our first 3 to just relax, sleep, and let the kids play in the pool. We always do midday naps so that we are in good moods and able to stay until midnight.

We like to split it up and have a day off in the middle. You can always wing it. We have universal tix for next time we go so it's forcing us to take a certain day off with having to select a date for the tix. So we're doing that in the middle of our stay. My feet are hurting already

We are splitting our trip up. We will be going to USH one day and then we have Lakers tix on another evening so not sure if we will go the DL in the daytime or go check out LA for the day.

I was looking at the monthly forecast last night..the 10 day isn't quite reaching our trip dates yet. But the predictions so far are 75/80 degree days through mid November. I'm actually thinking it might be too warm for jeans during the day like i wore last year..may have to wear shorts and leave jeans in the locker with light jackets for after the sun goes down.

I've been watching too even though we're further out of range than you. I'm counting on shorts, t-shirts and Santa hats! :santa: My preference is 65 and sunny. But I could deal with 75 and not have to take breaks (which would be great since this trip is shorter for us). A couple days we were there last year it got over 90 and that was too hot for my taste. :beach:

We once left Anaheim to visit my brother in San Diego. It was far more fun than we anticipated, and we wished we had brought overnight stuff so we didn't have to hit the road in the early evening.

If there are cousins that your kids might be having fun with, or pets, consider taking some overnight stuff just in case!

splitting it up is a good idea. 2 days at DLR can be tiring, especially for young ones. it would be good to have a more relaxing day in the middle.

We went with a toddler in 2015 and took two break days in the middle. We also walked back to the hotel every afternoon to relax for a bit. Personally, I've never felt this so-called "Disney bubble" at Disneyland but it might be because we used to live nearby or something. And we always rent a car and go do a few other things while in town (including visiting relatives.)

We plan to take 2 break days in 2017 with our 3 year old. We will have 5-day hoppers. Our break days will be Saturday/Sunday since those are the most crowded days.
