My friends doctor just had a sex change to make him into a woman.

Would you keep seeing her?

What if she were an ob-gyn?

If I had confidence in him/her beforehand, then...sure. :confused3

I've had both male abd female ob/gyn's. I don't care about the gender so much, it's the "bedside manner" I care about. Unfortunately the best "lady" doctor I ever had had such rotten office staf that I, and several of my friends stopped going to her.

Bottom line, if you liked the doctor before, nothing should change. Besides, it's nothing they ahven't seen before. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Is he/she a good doctor? :confused3 I guess it would depend on what kind of doctor they are, is, was. Wow, I guess I never thought of a doctor having that done. :lmao: Still, it would depend on what kind of doctor they were, it would be weird though. :rolleyes1

If I liked him as a doctor, I'm sure I would like her as a doctor. Since I don't see an ob-gyn I can't comment, but I suppose I could understand discomfort on the part of some women.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. :teeth:

if the dr was one i had trust in going to, and i was happy b4 with them, then sure, it wouldn't bother me a bit. it is very hard to find a dr you like. i am lucky i have had the same pcp since i was 13. she has watched me grow up, and delivered my ds. now she is dh and ds dr too. i just hope she doesn't retire for a loooong time!!

Wouldn't bother me--I don't care whether my physicians are male or female, just whether they are good at what they do (I've been seeing the same male ob/gyn for 24 years--if he became female, I'd be fascinated that he chose to do so, but not upset. :sunny: )

Sounds like the perfect doc for the whole family ;)

It would only bother me if said something like, "Gee, I wish I had one of those." J/K

I guess I'll take the flames.... :stir:

I would not go to that doctor because I would not want to place my health care in the hands of someone so confused

Would I keep seeing her? No.
Ob-gyn? No.

I just wouldn't feel comfortable.

No, I would not see that doctor. Someone who does something so drastic and so controversial would not be someone I'd feel comfortable holding my health in their hands.

i'd have no issues seeing the health practicioner. The thought process going into a sex change is a long one. There is much therapy and counsling that goes into it, so they have to be sure this is what they want. Once done, it is not reversable.

As long as they kept treating my medical issues the same as always, I'd have no problems. Who are we (any) to judge what a doctor does in their personal life?

I wouldn't hesitate. I WOULD NOT see a doctor who thought "transgender" meant 'confused.'

No way-that doctor has been touching way too many things.
