Would you recommend the halloween party in my situation?

I have a 5 year old who doesn't like character interaction. He's ok with them from afar. He also didn't really enjoy pirate night on our last cruise. He doesn't like loud noises and too much stimulation. He loves Halloween and dressing up, etc though. I was thinking of going to the Halloween party but am wondering if he will enjoy it and if it would be worth the $$? Do little kids like it? If so, how about kids who get nervous around scary costumes, etc? Is there a lot of that? Do the kids get to trick or treat? He loves that. Thanks for your help.

I've never actually gone, but I know many who have and have seen the guests coming into the park for it. It's not scary  like Knotts Scary Farm. Adults are not allowed to wear masks. This is Disney and most of the costumes are not horror scary but more Disney themed (Snow White's step mother, Cruella Deville...) and of course a lot of princesses, pirates (Jack Sparrow), Buzz... Yes they trick or treat, and I understand if you actually go on the 31st you get the most candy because they're trying to get rid of it all.

For me it seemed like a lot of fast moving lines for candy. I am glad we did it once - but we won't be doing it again (DDs were 11 and 8)

I'd save your money and take him during the Christmas holidays instead, preferably when it isn't too crowded (before the actual Christmas break). I think he might find the Halloween party a little too overwhelming.

Ok this is not sounding like something I want to do. He won't be that into it do I will wait until he's older.

We are going to be at the Disneyland resort the first week of October. If I don't have a party ticket, both DL and DCA be unaccessible on the 3rd (night of the party) it just DL? Can we still go to DCA that night?

We were in the same boat, we have a 5yo and 2 yo and we are from Australia where trick or treating and Halloween are not really huge as they are in the USA.
We watched the parade on youtube and my children were a bit suss about some of the characters and costumes, so we have decided to skip it.
It sounds fun but I am not willing to risk the next two weeks filled with nightmares due to our high-strung, innocent children.

If your kids are into dressing up, then if I recall correctly, they may dress up on a regular day, any day of the year, as long as they're age 9 or under. One of the main selling points of the parties (for some) is that older children and adults are allowed to dress up too.

I thought they allowed kids under or up to 12 to dress up all day during Halloween Time, but I can't find the FAQs on the Disneyland site anymore. :confused3
