I set up a fast pass plus for AK Safari right at park opening. My though was that right at opening a lot of people head there and since I am a slow walker, I will be at the end of that long opening line. If all the trucks go out before I load, it might be a long wait? With FL+ I would get through the line quickly and be on my way. Now I am thinking that maybe with enough trucks in cue at the start of the day, that I should just wait in standby and use the FL+ elsewhere later in the day? Your thoughts please?

Thanks Jadreen1282, So you recommend doing it with a FP in the morning, or without?

I wouldn't use a FP for it until around 11ish. No matter how slow you walk, there won't be a long walk. Many will be heading toward EE and Dinosaur, leaving Safari with the rest. And there will be plenty of trucks. Even after the trucks load and leave, there's a steady flow coming in

I agree with CAS239. As long as you are there at park opening, I don't think that the wait would be too long, even if you are a slow walker.
Or, you could book FP+ 9:15-10:15am window and ride standby then use the FP+ if you wanted a second ride.
Have fun. My family loves the safari:goodvibes

We do what PP mentioned....go there first and ride stand-by then use a FP for the Safari later when it is much busier. It is usually a completely different ride each time.

I schedule 9:15, 10:15, and 11:15am FP+ for my family.

We ALWAYS try and do a few things before getting to our 9:15 FP with an expectation of actually using the FP at about 10:10am.

If my 9:15 FP+ was for Safari, I'd be on Dinosaur and/or Everest before making my way to the Safari to use FP+.

Then we use our 10:15 FP+ at about 11:10am.

And then our 11:15am FP+ sometime around noon.

Then time to evaluate benefit of staying in Park versus utilizing resort swimming pool.

I like an early FP+ for the Safari. I go there first and ride it once stand-by, walk the Pangani trail before it gets crowded and then do the Safari again. However, I do not ride Dinosaur or Everest, so if you want to ride those, you may want a different plan.

I have an early FP for safari when we go in May. I only did it because we have a Tusker adr shortly after and also because I don't need 3 FP at animal kingdom. Dinosaur and EE FPs for later and we're good.

Thanks for the advice! I may try to change my 9am FF for a 9:30 one and just do it twice while I am in the area..or exchange it for a FP for " It's tough to be a bug. I have a FP already for Dino and I don't do EE. Is it worth it for bug? I am also using a FP for the Nemo show, and I want time to do the trails and still leave a little before park closing. BTW, which trail is the one that has all the different free flying birds? Thanks again. PS. Trinity 88, I will be there in May too.

We have 9:05 FPs for the Safari in June. If the SB line is short, I may jump on the app and quickly switch it to a later FP for Dinosaur :)

The Pangani Trail has birds. I do not think you need a FP+ for ITTBAB, as the theater is large and the shows are continuous. If you want a show, do Lion King.

Whatever you decide, don't worry about the flow of trucks. Once the safari opens, its a pretty continuous load and go. Waiting for the first groups to get back is not an issue.

We always do KS first thing. I'm not a particularly fast walker myself, but I've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes first thing in the morning. I usually save a FP for Expedition Everest. But this will be my 1st trip with FP+, so I may toy around with it and schedule as many things as I can with FP+.

Tough Bug is not a 'priority' FP and you gain little. Lion King is a longer wait, but no real advantage with seat selection since the show in performed in-the-round and there are no bad seats. On the other hand, Nemo allows FP+ folks to select their seats first. We FP+ the Nemo Show versus Bug Life or Lion King.

If no Everest, safe to assume no Primal Whirl either?

We normally do animal ride first without fp save fp for later for Everest, dinosaurs, maybe a show. Ak is really lacking in rides it's more of a walking zoo with a couple of ride sprinkled in. Really I can't remember a time we ever waited more then 20 mins to ride anything, by then again we never go durning crazy crowded times

I would let all the standby people rush ahead of you. Enjoy the Tree of Life and Pangani all by yourself, then meander over to the safari with FP+ at about 9:30--still plenty early to see the animals at peak activity.

We book our 3 FP+ early. I think last time just after rope drop we walked straight to Safari, rode it, then got off and rode it again with our FP+. Seems like by the time we got off to ride it again, the line was 30 minutes. I think it depends on what you want FP+ for at AK. For us- all we care about is Safari and Everest. In fact our 3rd has always just gone to waste as we never bother with it. We've never needed it for anything else. In addition to just typically booking our FP+ early at the parks to keep the possibility of using a 4th, DD (9) has gotten bored with AK pretty fast since she was 2 years old. We usually get there- do everything we want (or she and DH want basically- I would go slower through AK but they start whining), and then hop somewhere else. We don't want the FP+ scheduled too late and be stuck there waiting for one to kick in. I will say that since they started the Wilderness Explorer book with sticker badges, she has been more interested in AK which I have enjoyed since I like AK (except last fall it was a construction mess)...but, over our last 2 trips she has now totally completed the book, so unless she decides to start over this year, I think my longer time in AK is probably done for.
