Wasn't aware that "always be borrowing" was a 'real' mantraI am letting 3 points expire in 2 days. I’m sad about it but renting them out would have entailed renting out more points I don’t want to rent out.
I’m coming around to one of @DVC Doctor ’s rules of DVC: always be borrowing.

Coincidentally, I've have naturally tended to lean toward borrowing. My banked point usage came from the pandemic and more recent ones have been immediately after adding on (which is the case for this thread's stay as well).
Here's my banked/borrowed/standard mix through the end of this year:

Forecasting out a bit, the next few years will have more banked points mixed in that historical norms for me. But I don't think I'm at any risk of losing points beyond points banked from 2023 UY into 2024 on newly purchased contracts.
I haven't overcome the mental hurdle of losing the points despite all the comments so far. But I think I have a new plan!
- Book Bungalow at 7 months
- When Poly Tower bookings are possible with SAP, try to switch to Penthouse
- Extremely unlikely to be bookable, but worth a shot. Would free-up 12 points
- A couple months later is the 7 month mark for my next trip at BCV. I'm open to adding a night to it, but I can't use any more points from my BCV contract. If both Copper Creek Cabins for the original trip and 1 more night of BCV are available, I'll do a switcheroo from the Bungalow.
- I have no idea what the odds are of both of these being true, we'll see! Would free-up 72 points
