UPDATED INFO - in respose to some of the posts:
1)The sole is not actually white. The trim around the edge is not actually used anymore as they found it didn't hold up well. The sole itself is actually clear... "Visu Fit, a clear bottom on our shoes which allows you to see your childs toes so you know how the shoe fits" The shoe does have a white insole in it, but that is not visible from the sides or top.
2)Sole IS for walkers not prewalkers. It is a thin rubber sole that is very flexible.
(see additional picture below to see the sole and how the shoe is actually attached - without the white trim)
3)They are for church/dress up - he will not be getting them dirty (much anyway) and if he does - THEY ARE MACHINE WASHABLE!!!
PRESCHOOLIANS rock!
4)I don't want a dark color - it won't look right with his light colored summer church clothes. For play, yes I'll get him dark brown shoes, but not church.
5)I have a credit with Preschoolians. (FREE) No way I'm spending $40 at StrideRite when their shoe is not as flexible as Preschoolians. They don't have a bad shoe, mind you - I just prefer Preschoolians in general.
I love Preschoolians shoes but they don't really have a good boys sandal. They have this style called peek a boo that had pink thread and a pink flower on it. They are really good a customizing the shoes (free!!) how you want them. I think it still looks girly without the pink thread/flower - but maybe it's because I've been looking at it too long - (If I get it I would get it in the tan nubuck pictured)
Would you put it on your toddler boy (18mos old)?
FYI - Intended for church/dressy wear.
(I edited out the pink thread and flower)
Rubber sole:
This is how the shoe looks without the white trim - (just a different color etc):
