Would you potty train before your trip to Disney?

I would do what you want to do...why not start him? So what if it takes four months or longer and you are still training when you go. You CAN use "Feel and Learn" type pull-ups when you go to the parks if you think they will help. This will not scar him for life or set him back in his training. You are in a different environment when you are Disney and your child may not focus or be willing to stop when he needs to go to the bathroom (and you may not always be near one). If he is wearing feel and learn type pull-ups, you can bill them as "special underpants just for Disneyworld". You can still remind him/ask him if he needs to go potty and take him as frequently as possible. The pull-ups are a good back up in case no bathrooms are nearby and/or he forgets.

My almost four year old at the time had been completely potty trained for just about a year when we went to Disney. Yet, she had three accidents while we were there because she was too caught up on the fun to notice and/or she would say she didn't need to go when we asked her because she didn't want to stop what she was doing (and, in some cases, was afraid of the flushing sensors).

My point- I would start to train, if he is ready, but take pull-ups as a back up....just in case.

We trained my son in August, just being 2 1/2, he took off his diaper two days in a row at nap time and I said that is it. Then again that is about all I had to do. We went to disney the last of September so I was concerned. We drive (about 8 hours), so I put a diaper on him but explained to him to just tell me and we would stop, we stopped at about 3 hours in, he peed and on we went.

While there the first 3 days I put a diaper on him, never once with him going in it, my mom thought I was a lunatic! But didn't want any problems while there. After 3 days I said forget it and the next 5 days was smooth sailing at disney. Got home and no problems! I know I was lucky in that he was so easy and doesn't go alot and can hold it too! He also was pretty predictable about what time of day he would go #2. So that helped. We didn't do pullups either, to me they make the kid think they are underwear but that is my opinion.

If your child is showing signs, go for it! I think you have plenty of time and wouldn't worry so much! I worried a ton before we left about it!

Since you have 3 months before you go, I would go ahead and try now. Yes, you may still need a few pull-ups in Disney, but I would not let a future vacation hold back my child if he's ready now. You probably will be needing to make a few more restroom stops this trip than you normally do and I would suggest that be the last place you stop before cueing up for a line or show.

All 3 of my children were very easy to potty train and were completely finished (well, maybe not at night) within that time frame. My oldest dd took her diaper off one week before her second birthday and never looked back -- no accidents, even at night. My ds5 started at 22 months -- he was finished just after his 2nd birthday. He still wore pull-ups at night for a few months because he did not (and still doesn't) wake up in the night. My dd2 has been potty trained since just before her 2nd birthday. She was staying dry at night and then started wetting herself again so she's still wearing pull-ups to bed with panties over the top -- she just turned 2.5 earlier this week.

Good luck with your training.
