Would you pay more for shoes, clothes, TV, etc., that are made in USA ( made 100% in USA, not just assembled)? Awhile back, I went to the mall to get DD a pair of shoes (DH works in the textile field which is completely vanishing in NC), so to make DH proud I was going to buy her pair of shoes, made in USA - REGARDLESS OF PRICE. Guess what??? They don't exist!!! Nike (which I already knew), Reebok, Skechers, Stride Rite, etc. are all made overseas. I don't know how this country is supposed to get better economically if we continue to allow this. If no products are being made here = NO JOBS!!! I don't care who is in the White House, Republicans or Democrats - No products being made = No Jobs = no $$$ = poor economy!!! I'm not here to preach about the economy or gov., but am just curious, would you pay more for products made here versus a sweat shop overseas?

I definitely will pay more - and do. I also shop at many of my local small businesses when possible and pay more than I would if I went to Wal-Mart.....but that's another thread.... :p

I would definitely pay more for made in the USA. Unfortunately made in the USA is getting harder and harder to find. Even US flags are made overseas.

Honestly, only if they were better shoes and I liked them more. I wouldn't just because they were made here. Sorry. :(

Sorry, but I agree. Have to save $$ everywhere I can to be able to stay home with the little angels, so they usually get what's on sale at Target or Wal-Mart. DD only gets StrideRite when her grandmother buys it or if her feet are going through an odd-size phase (for awhile she was terribly narrow-footed). Same for DS except so far we've not had to get him any special shoes.

I will avoid a certain product if it comes to my attention that basic human rights are being violated in the production of it. But no I don't specifically search out American made products.

I generally make my decision based on price and quality.

Some New Balance adult shoes are still Made in the USA, but they are the ugly ones for some reason. My husband buys them, anyway. He also buys jeans, clothes, tools, etc. that are Made in the USA as often as possible, but they are getting much harder to find.

Yes, I don't have any idea what jobs will be left when all the exporting is finished. The white collar jobs were immune at one time, but that is no longer the case. Hmmmm.

Some athletic shoes are still made in the US. Like the other poster said, some New Balance shoes are made here. Go to their website. I would pay more to put Americans back to work. We try to buy American when we can but it isn't easy. Travel channel has a show once in a while about items made in the USA. It is very interesting.

I would pay more for American-made products but there is a limit to how much more I would pay of course. And I don't go out and actively search for American-made items because chances are I won't find them.

Strangely enough, it's hard to sort out which cars are made in the USA now from what I understand. Some American brands are made elsewhere while some foreign brands are made in the USA and the separate parts may have come from anywhere. We just buy what we like now.

I would, and do, pay more for American products. Of course, there is a limit. I can't buy things I literally can't afford.

Yep! Most Hondas are made in the States now...including the last 5 we owned! Best of both worlds....quality engineering and design but put together by American hands! That decision was based on the quality of the product and low cost of maintenance over the years...not necessarily starting price, although we did get good deals on them.

If it were the highest quality product, yes, I would. But if not, no way. It all comes down to quality for me. I made the switch a LONG time ago to Japanese-made vehicles. They have been superior for a long time. I'm sorry but I just can't put out $15,000 for a car and have it break down frequently and lose body integrity. I can't support that kind of product. Unfortunately, it has taken the U.S. way too long to realize that people won't put up with crap products and pay top dollar for them. The American company executives for most products got greedy and priced themselves out of the market. Although, I do think that clothes were made better in this country than the others. And Levi's just don't look right anymore!
