If you had an Oct. use year and were getting 50 pts from 2010 also? Having trouble finding resale for that many pts and for that UY. I almost think it would be worth it to buy from Disney. Have I drunk too much of the Kool Aid???

It's August. An October UY still HAS 2010 points. They're not giving you anything except a waiver on the banking deadline.

You haven't told us what resort and what your long-term plans are for using DVC. Do you plan to use the points to stay at WDW or DL exclusively or do you wish to trade them out on occasion to DCL and/or timeshares outside Disney? Are you financing and if so, could you finance the purchase outside Disney? We really need a lot more information to answer your question and even then, it won't be an answer per se but rather an opinion based on a quantitative analysis of your needs and wants.

Have you called Jason at TSS and told him what you are looking? I know many small contracts are sold before they are ever posted online because people do just what I just asked (or so I've been told).

Fidelity has two 50pt contracts for a September UY at $90 per point. If you go with the September UY you would just transfer the 50 points into your Oct contract and treat the whole thing as a September UY i.e. you bank as if it was a Sept UY. I would move quickly if you are interested, that is a great deal and there are two to choose from...the $95 per point has 2013 points, not sure why they $90 one does not....

Second comment, fidelity can be difficult to deal with but as long as you stay on top of the timeline and stay involved you will do fine and save more then 2 grand... Buying direct is fine if it is your first purchase or you absolutely want the same UY but having just two is manageable. More then two...

IMO, you have greatly over-simplified the transfer process. You couldn't do this with a second contract, for example, because each account (and in your scenario, all would be seperate accounts) is only allowed one transfer in OR out per UY. Another potential problem down the road is transferring these 50 points into the "master account" and wanting to rent points from another member at a future date in order to transfer them into your master account in order to secure a reservation. Can't do it. One transfer already done.

Far fetched scenarios? Maybe. IMO, unless you have entirely too much time on your hands OR you completely understand how to effectively handle multiple master accounts, keeping all contracts in the same UY under one master account is the way to go for the vast majority of people.

Please understand that I'm not taking away from what you said. What you posted will work, but over the long haul, what sounds simple this year can easily create problems next year.

Ok, I guess I will wait for GF :thumbsup2 Or a great resale Oct. UY, don't want to bother with a different UY. Thanks for the reality check Jim...:rotfl:

Just to consider - If you could find BLT points to transfer in for $10/pt you could do that for approx 20 years and equal approximately what you would pay for the points and MF's for that same amount of time. You could do it in larger chunks than 50 so you wouldn't have to do it every year either.

The math doesn't consider the point transfer rate increasing but even if it does you could still get points for a long time.

Is that easy to do Kat?

I haven't had a need to do it yet - although this year is a bit tight on points so it's been crossing my mind to find some and I know in the future I might look to transfer out rather than rent out a reservation. From other posts it doesn't seem to be difficult but you do need to find someone you feel comfortable dealing with. And the nice thing with a transfer is that once you have the points you have the control over them.

Never. $142 per point is outrageous.

Back away from the Kool Aid and you will be okay.

No I would not buy at 142.

Yes, you sure like that Koolaid!

How long have you been looking? I certainly understand. I have an April UY and have been looking for that right contract since March and just this week I finally found one that fits. While not exactly the amount I wanted, I'm happy with it (if it passes). I wanted closer to 100, but settled with 75 pts. I say hang in there and when the right contract comes along jump on it! No, I would never pay that price that they're asking.

It was a few years ago, and I wanted BCV, and yes, I paid Disney's prices which were over $100. I'm guessing if you really wanted it, you wouldn't have asked. It is highly unlikely that I'll buy any more points from Disney, but that's an issue of my age, the number of points that I already have as well as the prices that they are asking.

Best wishes.
Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. It's the MF's that are the largest outlay of money, not the buy in price.

We only own 150 pts...and I wanted more to use for a trip for next summer (2012). I can wait.. like I said in a different post I ended up using 191 pts. to book a 2 night Disney Magic cruise out of NYC in 2012. We have a Oct. UY, so have only have 16 pts until Oct. 2012 when I can borrow 2013 points, or wait until the summer of 2013 when the Fantasyland expansion is hopefully completed, (which was our family's original plan). I don't know if I can wait that long... :) but, I will probably end up waiting. Those cruises use up alot of points!!!, but really wanted the experience because we have never been on a Disney cruise. I also booked it to have something 'Disney', because our, (my husband's really), plan was not to go back to Disney until 2013 :( Anyway, I have the cruise to look forward to...but it's not Disney World. I'll just have to come on the boards more often, and start planning my trip for 2013! (unless I can talk my husband into buying some more points that is, because I find an awesome resale with an Oct. UY....lol)
