Would you like to see 1 and 2-br Villas with Kitchenettes???

Maybe not all of the kitchens. They could make some units with mini-kitchens for fewer points. A refrigerator bigger than the studio refrigerator, but smaller than the 1 bedroom. We REALLY used the refrigerator at the Grand Villa, but I don't think we'll use it much on our upcoming trip to VWL. It will be just my husband and me in a 1BR. Real plates, but service for 4. Oven - I don't know? Do we need a regular sized oven? Definitely not. Dishwasher yes. But it doesn't have to be a large one. Never give up the tub.

The problem with varying (and guarenteed) room configurations is that it takes flexibility out of the system - look at BWV Standard View or 2 Queen Beds in a dedicated at BCVs. And there are lots of possible room configurations - you could do without the kitchen, I could do without the tub, and there are a lot of people here who want two queens in the master, plus the pullout (or bunks in the master plus a queen).

The only guarentee I hope they add is non-smoking. Anymore and I think we create booking issues.

In future developments I think a studio type kitchenette would be just fine for 1 BR units, lower construction costs & those buying in would know what they're getting into.

Now that the DP's been avail to members on points wonder how many converts will "do it again". As for us, we love it & stretch it out over an additional day, becomes more cost effective. I cannot ever see myself cooking a "meal" on any vacation unless cost was a factor.
More importantly, how about a washer & dryer for the studios?:goodvibes

I like the kitchen the way it is...but, I would REALLY like studios to have a washer/dryer....that would be REALLY cool!!!

We cannot lose the kitchen. The DP doesn't interest us and doesn't fit our vacation style (we like to do side trips off property - strange I know, but that's just us ;) )and we like to cook! Plus for us, it helps save the extra dollars we need to spend on airfare :furious: just to get to the world.

We say NAY!

Keep the kitchen! OMG, it is one of the best selling points for us...., but we fill that fridge and need all of that counter space for...well, ok, for making Margaritas...
But we use it!

Good grief, keep the kitchens!
by the time you get out the cocktail shaker, fancy umbrella picks, cocktail olives/onions, lemon/lime slices & peels, rock salt, pilfered Mickey head stir sticks...

:ssst: Actually, (keeping head down, low profile here :duck: ) I enjoy doing some cooking while on vacation! I even can suggest more items to keep the kitchens stocked :tiptoe: We don't do the Dining Plan & do like making an early breakfast in order to get out very early & soak up all that atmosphere!

Yep, washer/dryer units--even the really small stackables--would be super in the studios--but what gets my vote are luxurious mattresses! :cloud9:
Especially a matress re-do for the sleeper sofas!

Keep the kitchen. It is one of the things we love about the 1 bedroom. We plan to cook while we are in the 1 bedroom and do the ddp while staying in the studio. Without a kitchen we would probably just stay in a studio the whole time. The fact that we have a kitchen in the 1 bedroom is what makes it our home away from home as opposed to just a hotel room.

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: don't take the kitchen away.

For us, it is just more fun to "cook" while on vacation. I spend some time planning out what we'll have available to eat for meals at WDW.

We aren't interested in the DDP yet, I like to be more flexible and from what I've read, it looks like you have to plan and make those ADR's way ahead of time.

we too like the kitchen... but sure why since we DDP, but there is something about the option, eating oatmeal from a real bowl, etc.

Definitely keep the full kitchens. We haven't cooked yet as we're dvc newbies but I know at some point we will. And we'd be lost without the full size refridgerator.

When we stayed at the other DVC resorts, we missed having the big kitchen with bigger appliances we are used to at OKW. I can't imagine a 1 or 2 bedroom with a smaller kitchen.

Keep the kitchens. If they built smaller kitchens at a new resort, they would probably just make the units smaller instead of using the extra room in the living area.

I'm another kitchen keeper. My kids are kind of picky (well, one of them is) and if I can make him something he'll eat versus buy him something overpriced that he doesn't want to eat......keep the kitchen! For the love of Mike, Keep the Kitchen! :)

Another vote to keep the kitchen. We had a full size watermellon in the fridge to snack on after the parks & ice cream in the freezer. We are not morning people and enjoyed a hot breakfast in our villa each day. Also on a few days just as we were getting ready to leave the rain started. So we waited out the rain in the villa and just had lunch there. watched tv and relaxed. After the rain we went to the parks on a full stomach and had fun eating dinner out.

I don't like to cook. but sure enjoyed having the kitchen, We :drive: to disney and did other florida attractions before disney. After 7 days of eating out we really enjoyed having a stocked fridge and a kitchen for our 9 days at disney.

I would NOT have purchased DVC if there were just kitchenettes in the 1+ bedrooms!! We have food allergies and need the kitchen. (even though WDW is the most accomodating when eating out..) It makes it more homey. "Home away from Home Villas." Eat out all the time if you want but leave the kitchens for the rest of us!!

Would you like to see 1 and 2-br Villas with Kitchenettes???

no , we have no use for the DDP ,we use the DDE .

leave the full kit. alone :thumbsup2

We like having the kitchen available -- I don't often cook while we're there, but it sure is nice to have the kitchen. And the dishwasher!!

Using only paper plates/bowls in the studios gets annoying after a while, IMHO.

We don't plan to use the DDP. We have DDE instead.

I could wish for a small set of real dished in the studios-- just 4 plates/4 bowls/some flatware. . .nothing too fancy. Perhaps stock the studios with both paper products and a few regular dishes; that way you could use whichever one worked better for you during your stay.

I suppose that would cause too much work for housekeeping when they flip the room for the next guest -- they might have to add washing dishes to the room cleaning list. (Of course, studios already have a couple regular coffee cups and glasses; they already have to check those.)

Oh, well, just thinking out loud. :rolleyes1

I think a couple of sandwich sized plates and cereal bowls added to the studio would be nice.

lol....I know ! We were staying at OLD KEY WEST a few weeks ago and couldn't even get a slice of KEY lime pie there :confused3 Went over to SSR and got theirs---which was very good.

As for the kitchen.....I'm for keeping it ! We need the full size refrigerator for sure. And we do use the full size oven----I made a ziti casserole this past trip, as well as cooked a pizza. One day I hope to get a GV and go down for Thanksgiving and cook an actual turkey for extended family.

Also, I'm with several others....we don't use the DP. We do DDE.

Keep the kitchen. I don't use it alot but making grilled cheese sandwiches or macaroni for the little ones is great.
We don't use studios often but a stacking washer dryer would be a nice addition.

If anyone was wondering, out of 59 posts:
