Just thought this would be a fun topic for a lazy Sunday afternoon.:goodvibes

Would you like to be famous? Why or why not?

Personally, I would not.

I honestly don't think I could handle the lack of privacy and constant scrutiny. I hated making class presentations when I was in high school so I can't even imagine having to give a TV interview in front of millions of people. I like being able to go to the store without being photographed for a segment of "Stars: They're Just Like Us- They go to the store looking like a slob!":rotfl:

On a more practical note, I hate flying and would be a total baby if I had to do international press or fly between NYC/LA or something. I couldn't deal with that!

Finally, there are a ton of Hollywood ideals and values I don't agree with and I would not like to be surrounded by that environment.

However, I must say... I wouldn't mind an assistant to do my laundry and a chef to make my meals. I think I could get used to that!:rotfl2:

No. I don't want my weight scrutinized or what I wear. I would not want to be trapped.

Definitely not. I wouldn't want to be scrutinized under the public eye.

Depends for what. I would never want to be a celebrity, but I would not mind if any of my art lived on in fame one I was dead and gone. Heck, I would love to become famous as an artist.

The general public treats public figures so incredibly poorly that I would hate the idea of being famous. Utterly hate it.

I'd much rather just be rich! But it isn't a big concern for me - neither is likely to happen.

I wouldn't want to be famous for acting, singing, etc. I would like to have my work be famous. I would want to take famous pictures that would end up on the cover of National Geographic, etc.

I couldn't imagine having a life with cameras in my face or everything I do or don't do would be scrutinized by people. Unless: Robert Pattison-my cougar crush liked my work and we started dating :rotfl:

I always wonder how "celebrities" sort out fans who come up to them on the street from folks that they should know from their past.
I worked with a local TV celebrity who liked to party and drink. He was in his 60's and had done this his entire life. A woman came up to him, and said hi to him by name. He was honest...said " I know I should know you but I can't recall you name". Turns out he had been MARRIED to her briefly 30 years ago. Yikes!

I'd like to be known for my novels, and since very few writers are as recognizable as actors and singers, it wouldn't be a problem for me to be famous. James Patterson could lead a parade down the main street of any town in America and very few people would recognize him. I once had a 10 minute conversation with Margaret Atwood at Book Expo America (where you would think that one of the world's great writers would be instantly recognized by the attendees) and nobody screamed and pointed, or even came over to say hello to her. It was so cool. I talked to her just like she was anybody else, but on the inside, I was having a fit!

Now famous on the level of Princess Diana or Madonna or someone like that...no, no, no. That kind of fame is toxic. It warps people's minds and lives.

I would LOVE to be famous for my photography. Not even Annie Liebowitz famous, but famous enough that I get to travel! Some of my favorite photographers aren't nationally known, but are known enough they get to travel to amazing places - like NYC, Seattle, Hawaii, Australia! to do family or wedding photos.

Being famous usually leads to being wealthy. In that sense, yes. Along with all the freebies that are usually given to famous people.
But the lack of privacy is a deal breaker. So no. lol

I wouldn't want to be famous even if it did mean I could be wealthy. I could not undergo the intense scrutiny 24 hours a day, people who don't even know me saying the most catty and unkind things about me. I wouldn't want my name and history splashed all over the evening pseudo-news casts. Nope, I'd rather earn my money the old fashioned way.

I"m a school nurse, read: not so wealthy OR famous. But to see teh smiles & waves, to hear the cheers that trail me--"Hey, that's my nurse!"-- as I walk amongst the students you would think I was Britney Spears. :goodvibes

Nope. Not at all. The public is cruel. I would not be able to handle it.

Absolutely not. I LOVE performing and do lots of local theater. There have been a few times when strangers recognized me at the grocery store or something and that was weird enough...I can't imagine what it would be like to be a celebrity. I'd hate it. I hate that people seem to think they have some right to personal information about celebrities and frankly I find it sick that people actually buy those trashy magazines and go to sites with celebrity gossip. What a pathetic waste of time, really.

No. I wouldn't want to be famous. I do like the big sunglasses though. :cool2:

Hollywood ideals such as...?

I work in "Hollywood" and my ideals are just fine, thank you. Do you think everyone drinks every night and does drugs? :rotfl: I carpool, for crying out loud.

And yes. I would like to be famous. Tom Hanks famous, that is.

HECK no. I'm a teacher and that's enough of a "local celebrity" for me. I can't go grocery shopping without running into one or more of my students. My family hates shopping with me because I always end up standing and chatting with people.

When I'm in a hurry or just not in the mood, I wear a disguise. Baseball cap with my hair tucked underneath and sunglasses. A school teacher's life is filled with such glamour and intrigue...who needs Hollywood?
