Would you have gone this far...............? (slightly long)

I applaud your intern for what she did. I know I would appreciate someone letting me know if my child were not being supervised like he should or doing something dangerous that I wasn't aware of. Now I just hope the mother follows thru.

I once was driving thru my mom's neighborhood at the usual neighborhood speed of 35 when out from the park flew a kid on a bike. If I hadn't been doing the speed limit I could have hit him. Scared me to death! I proceeded to my mom's w/the kid on the bike weaving in and out of the road in front of me. He turned into the drive 2 doors down and I handed off my child to my mom and proceeded to go let this mom's child know what had happened. I was still shaking it had scared me so bad. He was sitting out front and said his mom wasn't home. I explained to him how he needed to be more careful riding his bike and that alot of people speed thru the neighborhood, when his mom comes out the door. I then explained the situation to her and she basically looked at me like I was crazy but, at least I had warned her. Not too long after the child was hit by a car :( . Guess the message didn't get thru but, I tried!

I probably wouldn't have thought to do that, but it would be eating me up after I left though just thinking about it. If I were a mom, I would want to know!

Yes, that would have been my reaction as well. I can't tell you how many places I have been at with my children and have seen other children that were totally unsupervised by their caregivers. You see a lot of that with the summer camp groups that many centers offer.

There was one time when we were at a McD's. We had just sat down to eat when a man approached me with a child and asked me if she was mine. I told him that she wasn't, then one woman that was sitting towards the back of the restaurant said, "She is one of ours". They were all part of a day camp group and the man had no clue who she belonged to.

I think what your intern did was a great thing, as a parent I would want to know. It's risky to do what she did, some people instead of being grateful would have snapped at her for not minding her own business. ::yes::

Thats funny because even before I got to the bottom of your post I was livid and thinking I would have found out where the child lived and notified the parents. Good for her!

Yes I would have done something like that. I'm glad the Mom was appreciative, some people might not have been so nice.

"slightly long post" is like being "a little pregnant"
