Would you go?

If it's just about the day - I'd go. I think the long weekend sounds like a much more convenient day to dedicate to driving to and attending a wedding than a normal weekend. I love Holiday weddings - but then, my anniversary is Dec. 22nd.

However, if you have plans that are more important to you than going to her wedding, you certainly have the right to decline the invitation. An invitation is not an obligation!

Don't most couples coordinate dates with the people they want there the most - parents, siblings, etc. - and then just hope the rest are able to make it? I can't see trying to make in convenient for EVERYONE.

Like I said, we will more than likely go. It's not just a 3 hour drive. It's 6 hours roundtrip on top of all the other driving. We already drive over a lot of the state seeing our parents. DH's parents are divorced and live about 4 hours apart and my parents are two hours from both of their houses. So we usually make a circle to see all three. We do try to spend time with them, usually a sleepover at each house so we're not just eating and running out the door. Our shopping day is only on Friday. We have to see his dad during the holiday, otherwise he is alone and drinks because he gets depressed. I guess we won't try to see his mom since we'll see her on Saturday at the wedding. It's just frustrating to us because of the talk from the other family members. Nobody is happy about the date, even the grandparents were irritated they had to change their traveling plans.

I got married the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I had people thank me for choosing that weekend because they didn't have to rush around to get ready. :confused3 I guess you can't please everyone.
It really sounds like you have a problem with her, not the date.
