Would you go to AK or MK on the first day of your trip?

We're really excited about EE, so I thought we'd go to AK on the first day.

But then it seems like going to MK is much more magical for the first day (I get all teary eyed watching the opening).

Which would you do? :confused3

If there's a morning emh at either, then you could go to that early. Or go to the other one for fear of crowds later.

All things being equal, it wouldn't even be a question for me: MK first. Take that first walk down main street, realize that you're on vacation, and head to frontierland.

It depends on what day is your first day. Remember the busy days for MK. I see your point as to the magical aspect of seeking MK on the first day, it is such a nice way to start, but then again AK is great too...so is everything else.

Gee I guess I can't really answer your question....sorry, no help here... :rotfl2:

We only do MK on our first day if we are getting in early. We usually get in about noon, so we go to some other park first. This year we will get in around noon and go to AK and then head over to Epcot. I save MK for our first full day.

We always do MK on the first day, to us it's the most magical way to start a stay at the World. It doesn't really feel like I'm there til I've seen MK.

Leaving in 3 days........ :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Personally I would go with MK, it IS Disney to me! However our trip in December (first for our kids) we are doing AK our first day just due to our touring plan and what parks are supposed to be least crowded at that time. I would love to do MK first but we are going to wait a day.

Really, you are in the World, anywhere you go first day will be awesome!

It's next Monday. It's an EMH morning for AK. I need to check my book to see the crowd predictions and recommendations for that day. We also have ADRs for Chef Mickey's that evening.

Since you have gone before, and are excited about EE, I say go to AK. That is what we did over spring break. We went to EE (cutting by Dinosaurland) first thing in the morning, and then also got a fast pass to go again. Our thought was a) we were supposed to be staying at AKL (ended up getting moved to Poly, but that is another story) b) if the ride breaks or it rains badly or something we could always go back another day c) we were very excited to go on it!

It does not matter what day I get to WDW, the first full day I go to the AK and get there earlier enough to see Mickey welcome be from the base of the Tree of Life.
Latter that day I head over to the MK to get my fix there.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I would pick MK. But if there will be Extra Magic Hours in AK on that day, i would change my mind.

if it were us we would have gone to magic kingdom.
say that ak was open late.if u had park hopper go to mk then later go to ak.
but if u don't just go to ak. we like mk the best because it is cool and my daughter loves mk.we have loads of fun.
but the decision is yours whatever u want :wave2: :wave2:

I personally have a bit different perspective on this. Depending on the age of the kids going. If I have really young kids with me I would prefer to save the MK for late in the trip. Once they have experienced MK they don't enjoy the other parks quite as much. They like them, but they usually like MK more. I like to save the very special magic of MK for towards the end of the trip. Now for older kids or teens it would depend on what kinds of things they like the most. This of course is just MY opionion.

I had the same problem! We didn't get in until 11am so we went to AK. The next day we went to MK and made it to the opening. I get all teary eyed too, I just love it! I thought it was kind of strange going to AK on the first day but it turned out to be just fine. We just wanted to have a full day at MK and it just so happened that it had to be the 2nd day.

Don't worry. You are on vacation, you will be at the Happiest Place on Earth, do whatever you want!!

Have a great time!

We always go to whatever park has a new ride we haven't seen. 6/05 - went to Epcot for Soarin' - 3/06 - went to AK for EE. It doesn't matter to me where we start - I just always like to end at either MK or MGM.
