Would you go During Spring Break even though you know it will be PACKED?

I realize this is the WRONG crowd to ask. You like me would take pretty much any opportunity to go to WDW.

I've just been given the chance to go in 2 weeks when my kids are on Spring Break. Checked the Online reservation system, pickings are slim, which tells me that lots of people will be heading to WDW. If it was just me I wouldn't give it a second thought, but I'd be with my 77 yo mother and my 2 rambunctious boys. The eldest is autistic. DH, who is a Disney Crab, will probably stay home, unless I can convince him to come too.

Surely there is someplace less crowded that would be a nice enjoyable break for everyone.

I go at this time ,but your focus can't be park rides so much -you will have to just enjoy being there seeing stuff the warm weather my DML also is that age and she loves Riverside and Epcot -she likes the flowers and the many counter service tidbits and snacks -I usually get her a sourin fast pass then we wonder and go threw the Countries but you have to get there early for any fast passes sometimes they are gone for the whole day by noon .
If crowds bug your older son can't do waits and heavy crowds DON"T DO IT !

If that were the only time I could go, I would. If I had a choice of any other time I would choose a less crowded time.

I wouldn't. I just can't stand/deal with those kinds of crowds. I'm really spoiled being able to go during slower times and even though it's Disney, I just know I wouldn't enjoy it. It isn't even the lines so much for me, it's when the walkways and paths are so packed and the busses are full. For me, it wouldn't be worth it to spend the money and vacation days to go during spring break.

I was there over Easter Break when I was in my 20's. For some reason I didn't worry about it then. I was just happy to be there. I was actually in the MK on Easter day and boy was it packed. Flash forward to my 40's and I avoid that time of year at all costs. We're actually taking ds out of school in May to go this year. So I suppose if it was my only choice, then yes. But only if it came to that.

I'm going on spring break, or the last week of it. Main reason because is the only time my dad has vacations from work and we haven't taken a vacation together in ages!

Just wondering how crowded is spring break? I went last July around July 11th. and although we had to wait for the rides I found the weather worst than the lines.

I will be traveling from march 22 to march 28. Will it be better/worst/ same than July?

From what I've learned take the chance of having a vacation with your family, you never know when you will have another chance =(

If this will be your only chance to go to WDW this year - GO FOR IT !!!
On the other hand , if you can go at a less hectic time , GO FOR THAT , as it will be far more enjoyable

I've been at spring break. Would I go with my 78 yr old MIL ? NO ! I went 10 years ago with her and my then 11 yr old niece and it was pure hell. The niece was great, but the MIL. Oh shoot me now.....just the memory of it. You wouldn't believe me if I told you everything.

One short one: Walking thru Epcot. The MIL won't go into see Mexico, because she's been to the "real" Mexico, why go see the Epcot Mexico? For crying out loud, she went to Tiajuana, once in the 1950's. Can't argue with someone like that.

Now. Enough of my pain. About you. You've got an autistic son. I'm blessed that my kids are about a normal as they come. I do have an autistic nephew. I wish for his sake that he could've afforded to go to WDW when he was younger, he's in his mid 20's now, and would have enjoyed it as my kids have the two times we've gone before. Jeffery is a very loving and bright boy once you get to understand that he doesn't express himself the way most kids do. It would be hard on everyone because of the hustle and bustle of WDW at Spring Break, but it is truly a magical place for kids.

If you go, I would make a plan that doesn't kill you physically and take time to enjoy the smaller things the park and resorts have to offer. I'd even let you take my MIL to keep yours company if you ask nicely.

Good point. My spring break trip was the last vacation I took with my mom (and siblings) before she died. Even though it was ridiculous, and I would never choose that time of year on purpose, I wouldn't take it back for anything.

Plus, with your MIL and your son... I think you're just asking for stress and aggravation.

My stance with going during super crowded times is the $ factor. I can not see spending alot of $ on a vacation when I will not have the opportunity to experience everything I want because of the crowds. A typical week for us at a deluxe disney resort for 8 days costs us about 5 grand, for that amount of $ we could go somewhere else that time of year and get more for the value of our dollar.

Since we go to disneyworld now every 6 mths I might be more inclined to go during spring break because it would be more of a relaxing vacation for me laying by the pool, dinners etc. not running from attraction to attraction. That being said I would def put my check in the no box for spring break crowds.

Maybe I've missed it, but what specific 2 week period will you be travelling to WDW? If it's the 2 weeks wrapped around Easter weekend then yes, it will be insanely busy.

I will say this, if it was the only chance I could go for a long while I'd be there crowds or no crowds. Although, looking at it from the opposite side of the spectrum if I went often I wouldn't mind the crowds too much. I've always had the attitude if I go over 3 times in a year that I can come back and ride attractions I've missed during this trip to avoid long lines and crowds. It's the mentality of I'm coming back soon so I don't mind missing a show or attraction this time knowing full-well I can get to it next time.

Sure. We got married at wow in April 3 years ago, and this will be our 4th consecutive spring trip in just 31 days! We do not go easter week, but beyond that its really not that bad. Went christmas week this year and that was CROWDED!

In the spring the weather is great, the parks have really long hours, and you have plenty of time to do what works for you. Will you walk on to every ride? No. But You will get on plenty of rides. I actually enjoy a busier park a lot of times - slow times a lot of carts and things are closed and I hate feeling like the park will close before I'm ready to leave! If you're staying onsite you can take breaks for your mom and ds.

We went over spring break in 2008 and, while yes, it was packed at MK, the rest of the parks were no different than a busy day in the Summer. Which was so nice, because we usually go in the summer and it's so hot then. The weather is much nicer during spring break and we had a really nice time.

I also agree that busier times are nicer because everything is open - it seems there are more shows, more spontaneous entertainment by CMs and no rehabs.

We go every year at spring break. We have to work around the school schedule so we are always there at peak times. It does get crowded, but the weather is beautiful. We always know that we are coming back, so if there is a line longer than we want to wait in - it's no big deal. We also enjoy spending the afternoon in the pool. By 1:00 we've had enough walking and people so we head back to the resort and go swimming. But you know your family best.
