Would you go alone?

Today I took DS alone to MK and AK, we had a blast! Anyway there are some things I would love to do, browse through the worlds on my own time, see some things that DS would hate to do, look for hidden Mickies etc. I know Dh thinks I'm nuts and keeps putting me off and my mom well she is doing the same. So I'm thinking of going alone, just me myself and I! Would you do it? I feel pretty safe at WDW and I would leave the parks before dark. What do you think?

I would definitely do it. I actually have a couple of times this past trip when my DH, DS and mom weren't up to going to a park. My family thought I was a bit crazy at first, but were some what relieved when I left that I wasn't nagging them that we needed to get up and out of the room to go to the parks, follow the itinerary that I had for us, etc. It was nice to go where ever at my pace (which is quite fast even though I'm under 5 feet tall) and do whatever I wanted to...heck it was my birthday celebration, so why not. :)

I also went shopping at Downtown Disney during my honeymoon by myself.

I have to agree with you, it was nice to go with only my DS to the parks. We had a great time.

I definitely feel a lot safer at WDW than some cities close to home.

I've actually had two solo trips in 2 years. The last one wasn't completely solo as I was meeting my CP DD and some friends for a few meets, but I did get some alone time! The first trip was sooooo nice, I was able to enjoy the art around the World Showcase, take my time browsing the shops, eat what I wanted when I wanted, etc. It was just a few days, but just the "recharge" I needed at the time.

I don't see myself getting another solo trip anytime soon (no excuses at the moment!), but I'd go again in a heartbeat. It was also a very good lesson for my younger DDs (9 & 7) and for DH that sometimes, Mom needs her "alone cone" and *sometimes* Moms get to do fun things, too.

Getting ready to go on my 4th solo trip, so a hearty yes from me!

I recommend doing some of the tours if you go solo. You learn so much about the parks, see things you've never noticed, and it's a ready-made group of people to keep you company for several hours!

since I am the world's biggest wienie, I have plenty of time in WDW to entertain myself when going with DH & DS16. I go on rides, dine & browse, spend the day at the resort, solo. We keep in touch via cell phone.
I wouldn't hesitate to go totally solo.
My one precaution to take: I would bring one of those safety locks for hotel rooms they sell on QVC. Hey, I told you I was a wienie! :bitelip:

I would definately go alone if there were things I wanted to do that would bore everyone else. Don't feel bad about it. Have them go off and do things they want to do.

I would go alone in a heartbeat. I have gone without my family a couple times to meet friends. Both on friend trips & family trips, I do have solo time in the Parks.

I'm planning a solo trip next year when Ex. Everest opens. I may meet a friend if she can make it, but either way, I'm going.

I have traveled to several cities alone & WDW is so safe & easy. It's the perfect place to travel solo, even if you never have before.

I'm going solo the end of Nov. Sure, I was a bit nervous once the excitement of booking my first solo trip wore off. But, I'll be meeting some DIS friends there, going to some meets..that kind of thing. I'm really looking forward to being able to do exactly what I want to do, when I want to do it for the first time. I feel very safe in WDW so that isn't an issue. My big problem with going solo in Nov???? I'm afraid it will become habit-forming!!!!!

a friend of mine goes solo at least every other year (and we live on the other side of the atlantic ocean , so that's a very long trip)..
she loves going alone....no one to nag her and she can do whatever she wants......she's a mom of 5 kids, so i guess being on her own is a nice change of pace, even if all of her kids are now grown up (and she's a grandma several times over)..

if i lived in the states, i would certainly go to the parks on my own....i find them very relaxing...my ideal vacation would be a few days at the GF, combining relaxing walks through the parks and daily visits to the GF spa and health club....sounds like heaven to me...

Never done a whole trip on my own, but one thing I really enjoy is our "alone day" (inspired by National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation). We all go off on our own for one day of the vacation, and I indulge myself completely in just the things I like to do. Since I'm the only female in my family, it's quite different from the days we spend together.

I am going to the world solo for the 1st time, leaving 11/1 and returning 11/5. I am excited beyond belief! My kids are now grown, my grandkids are too young to bring, and my DH has no desire to go. He likes Disney...I LOVE Disney!

I got a great airfare from Newark...$135.00 R/T and my fate was sealed! I was planning on making this a cheapie trip and staying at the Pop. However, I figured I might as well REALLY enjoy myself and booked the Poly. I know...this is extravagant for only one person but what the heck! Everyone thinks I am crazy...little do they no what I great trip I have planned for me!

Absolutely!

I had a business trip to LA a few years back and I made early plane reservations on purpose so I could go to Disneyland. I had a blast. I got a few strange looks since I look older than I am and was just giddy as a kid on the Matterhorn, but who cares.

I've done a few solo trips over the years and LOVE them. There's nothing like the freedom to do what YOU want, when YOU want. If you want to ride your fav. ride over and over again, or just sit and people watch, or catch a show the rest of your family wouldn't be caught dead in, just remember it's all about YOU!!!! :teeth:

Have a magical solo trip!!! :wizard:

I would LOVE to go alone to the World Showcase. Just so I could go in all of the countries and take my time and see everything. Have fun.

wow...sounds fantastic to me...
you're going to have a great time!!!..
i was in london a few months ago on a business trip that ended on wednesday....so i stayed until sunday, sightseeing through london on thursday/friday/saturday.....it was FUN!!!....i did everything that I wanted to do....really great......
maybe one day i'll have a good excuse for WDW too....a business trip there...you can bet i'll add on more than just 3 days...

We live in Ohio so a solo trip to WDW just doesn't happen. We do have a great amusement park called Cedar Point. I have gone solo before and loved it. You can do whatever you want, see whatever show you want and take as much time doing it as you want. I love sharing it with my kids but going by yourself is a totally different experience.

Cara -
I am recently back from my 6th trip with my kids.As we all do - I LOVE their faces in the world and we have an awesome time. That said - a couple of years ago, I had an AP which gave me added flexibility and I left my kids at WL with my mom and spent just a few HOURS "alone" in MK!!
Oh MY Gosh!!! It was so great. In a heartbeat I would go to WDW by myself, and I would stay on property and have no problem whatesoever staying "late" for Wishes or Spectro or any other evening show!!!
Go and enjoy and let us know your plans. I am green with envy - now you have me thinking, and plotting.... lol!!!!

YES! I would definitely go on a solo trip. Actually, I am in the process of planning my first solo trip for 1/21-1/27. I can't wait!!

I took my parents and my sister to WDW last year. I love them all dearly, but they didn't get into it nearly as much as I did. Also, my sister was pregnant and my mom was recovering from an illness. Those to factors changed the touring a bit.

I am excited about this trip, because I can be totally selfish. Do exactly what I want, when I want to! Wooooohooo! :bounce: It is fun going with others and sharing the magic, but I think it is going to fun going by myself too!
