We land around 6pm in Long Beach on a Thursday night.
We're booked at Fairfield Marriott, would you even try to head to the parks? We got a 5 day hopper and we're upgrading during the trip so using up the days is not an issue.
What do you think?

Definitely! You might as well if you don't need to save the days. You could go in and do just a couple of things--maybe even catch Fantasmic or the fireworks, depending on when you're going to be there.

You might just want to do some of the rides that are a little different at night when it's dark:
Matterhorn
Splash Mountain
Jungle Cruise
CA Screamin'
Tower of Terror

Or just go in and walk around and shop and stuff. I would NEVER turn down some extra time at the parks!

What time are the parks open until that nite? If they'll be open late it might be fun to head over and do a ride or two and get dessert before hitting the sack. If you have children it might be the only way to curb their enthusiasm enough to get them to sleep that night. If not, well, it could be a nice way to start your vacation. If the parks won't be open late enough, dessert at DTD might be fun.

the park closes at 8pm. I'm wondering if it's realistic to think we could get some park time in.

I wish we had an earlier flight in!!!

We'll see how quickly things go [check in and all] and head over ASAP. Good idea to hang out at DTD if the park is closed.

What's the time that the main gate will stop letting people enter? I know the stores on Main Street stay open for 30 more minutes? Could we enter the park at 7:55pm?

I wouldnt even attempt it because one your getting into LB at 6...there is the drive to anaheim which basically you will be hitting at rush hour...then you get to your hotel and check in and drop off luggage...I would probably either just go to dinner and take a swim at the hotel or if you have to do something disney go to DD but I think your going to be cutting it too close

Wow, that is cutting it close. I don't see you being able to get to DL in time. Enjoy dinner and hit the pool before bed.

I don't think you'd make it. It would be at least an hour from airport to hotel, and then travel time from the hotel, through security, and then into the park. Even if you could make it into the park before close, you'd only have time to maybe hit one ride. I say check into the hotel, have a nice dinner, and walk around DTD.

Taking it easy the 1st night sounds good! Get up early the next moirning, and hit the parks!
