Would You Do This?

Would you pay to have a professional install Christmas lights for you?

  • Yes because I'm too lazy to do it myself.

  • Yes because it's easier/safer that way.

  • No because it takes away all the fun.

  • Don't know.

My mom kinda thinks I'm crazy, but I want to hire some people to come over and put up our Christmas lights. She said part of the fun is putting them up yourself. That use to be okay when we lived in a one story house. Now we live in a 2 story house and climbing up to the top is out of the question for me, and I'm not to thrilled with the idea of DH doing it either. I'm afraid of hights, and not just when I'm up high, when other people are up high it scares me too. Anyway, I found The Christmas Light Company and they will come and decorate your house for you. Does anyone else think it would be worth it? Would you do it? I'm going to try to get a free estimate from them. Its not like I want anything elaborate...just some lights on the house to make it light up would be nice.

People hire me to come in and decorate the INSIDE of their home, anything from setting up and decorating their tree to decorating their dining tables or fireplace mantels. They have the money but lack either the ability or time to do it themselves.

If this is something you don't mind paying for, I see no reason why you shouldn't hire someone. If it saves you time and/or your sanity, go for it.

Nope. The gift budget is tight enough.

If I had the money, I would do it in a heart beat! :D I do not have the patience to put up lights. I want everything done instantly. :o I start out all holly and jolly about the task, but within 10 minutes I'm done. :o :p Plus, I'm a perfectionist, so if one thing goes wrong, I'm instantly frustrated; like if one string won't go on perfectly or something! :p :o

You need a 4th choice. "No, because I'm too cheap!" LOL!

I've seen a couple of companies advertising in our area too, that they'll come to your house and put up your lights for you. I was curious how much it costs, but don't think I'd actually pay someone to do it, no matter what a pain in the butt it is.

Personally, I wouldn't do it because I like my money more than I like Christmas lights. :) But if having lights is important to you, I can totally understand having somebody do it. Neither DH nor I would want to go on the roof.

Yep, I would do it if I had the money. I really want to decorate for Christmas but with my job and travel schedule, I just won't have the time to do it. I don't feel the need to do it because of neighbors, just that I want to do it for me. I like coming home to all the lights when I get off work. I'm going to miss it this year but I just don't have the extra funds right now to hire someone to do it for me. I agree that part of the fun is doing it myself but that isn't always an option.

Well, if I didn't have a hubby and four sons I would, but as long as I can use my little slaves I will :p

Anyone who doesn't install their own lights is clearly one of those radical subversives who should be reported to the House Un-American Activities Committee;) ;) ;) ;) ;) .......

If I wasn't able to do it myself, if I had money to burn, if I didn't have time, if I wasn't capable, if I really wanted it done. Then Yes, I would hire someone.

If they were reasonably priced, yes! I've been trying to figure out how to get lights on our second story this year, too. Neither DH nor I have any business climbing a ladder to the second story. First, sure, second, no.

But *I* want to do the ground lighting. :D

...however, when it comes to taking them down, that's another story!

If I had the money to do it...sure I hire someone. Right now we belong in Wendys category, no because we are too cheap.:D

The company that does my yard service offers this for an additional fee as part of the final fall clean up. They'll take them down during the initial spring clean up. It's an additional fee but honestly it's not that expensive.

If I were going to put up lights I'd definitely use it.
