When the budget airline isn't an option since I used multiple new credit cards to buy my direct purchases and racked up over 1 million miles, so now I use those to cover other flights like to Aulani. But there is still food costs, I try to keep costs down by not eating as much table service and I work very hard at my gift card collecting to help cover costs for food and dues, I average a steady 15% savings.

Never pay for a flight again with CC points! Just put the taxes on something with good insurance. Same with Disney GCs! They can subsidize dues, tickets, food, merch, LLs, etc. 15 - 20% isn't too hard to find if you're hunting sales or bonuses stacked with credit card offers. This makes it much easier to digest!
