Would you do Pirate & Princess Party with 2yo?

My daughter is 2. I saw there is a Pirate & Princess party happening during our stay. I'm wondering if it is worth the money to do it. She doesn't really have a problem staying up late. Will there be enough to do to justify the cost? She loves Disney princesses. Can we decide that day and buy tickets at the park? We already have a park hopper for our length of stay which is only 4 days

Well, yes, we've gone to two P&PP's with toddlers. But if we ONLY had a 2 yr old, I'm not sure we would have.

Do YOU want to go? I mean, they are fun parties, the parade and fireworks are great, there are some special meet & greets, the treasure spots are fun (mostly for kids), the rides have shorter lines... But a 2 yr old is so young, she would not get anything more out of going to it then doing the regular stuff at the parks each day. She won't know the difference between the special P&PP fireworks or Wishes. Or meeting the Princesses at the party or just on regular time.

If you are going mostly for yourself, and you think that your DD would be fine staying up late and would enjoy the sights and sounds, then sure, you could go. But if you're going mostly for her, then no, I wouldn't go.

Keep in mind that doing the late night parties can take away "regular" park touring time too. You'll have to sleep in the next morning, so you'll lose what could be a valuable morning of touring!

Ditto what pp said. We are going and taking my 2.5 year old ds. But, we would not be going if we didn't also have a 4.5 year old dd. If you really want to go, do it. But, it will be a very late night. My kids are not night owls. We are doing the PPP the last night our stay, sleeping in the next day and then departing.

We were at the world last January. DH did not want to go to the party so he and the toddler (17 months) went to bed early.

I stayed at the MK with the older two (then 8.5 and 7) for the party. I kept the stroller since we already had it and I wanted to do some shopping. Long story short, dd7 fell asleep in the stroller and missed the parade, fireworks, and Jack Sparrow meet. She did get to ride Goofy's Barnstormer ELEVEN times in a row though.

Sometimes a kid that can stay up late at home, just gets tuckered out after a day or more at the parks.

We did the Halloween Party when my younger DD was 1.5, of course my other kids were 11 and 14. She was awake for the first few hours when we went on rides, but then dosed off at 11 or so.

I think whether or not you want to take her depends on her memory, is she going to remember this eight or so years from now (probally not, unless she's like my daughter, she's 13 and remembers a lot of things from before she was two)? It may not be worth it yet.

We did the PnP with DS in Sept, he was 14 months and our friends DS who was just shy of 3. They both loved it. And then promptly fell asleep after the fireworks in their strollers so mom and dad just kept on going. The party we went to in Sept was deserted so there were lots of opportunities for rides.

I haven't done The P&PP..but we do MNSSHP every year and because of the 7 year gap between our two have taken my DD at ages 4 mo. through 2 years. A pp stated that her DD's fell asleep. I certainly wouldn't advise doing a day of Disney and then a party. But if you have a day to take off and do just the evening party I would suggest it. We've always enjoyed the lighter crowds the partys afford and at 2 there are a lot of things that she can do. I also agee w/ the poster who said don't go for HER if you wouldn't enjoy it but I'm sure you would have a great time
I am hoping to get to go to the P&PP this April. Keep your fingers crossed.

We attened a P&P party last September and we had our 2 1/2 year old dd along with us in addition to her older siblings (they were 7, 11, and 12).

I have to say that our best moments of the party were actually with the 2 year old. She just LOVED the dance party areas! She was out there dancing the night away and having a total blast! I think she loved the less structured feel of the party vs a day in the park. DD did not ride many rides (Barnstormer may have been it).

Another great time was the parade...no crowds and wonderful character interaction between dd and the characters in the parade. It was just SO precious!

If we only had a dd 2, we probably would have skipped the party. But looking back, I am so glad we took her.

Honestly I think it depends on whether this is something you want to do or not. MY only advice is to go back to the resort for a long long nap. We muscled the boys into napping that day. We told the 5 year old if he didn't nap he wasn't going--we ended up taking a 3 hour nap until after 5pm. Let me tell you my boys were champs --we ended up getting to the park really late because there was a rainstorm, but we saw the parade, fireworks, characters and went on a ton of rides. It was one of our most memorable experiences as a family at disney. We are hoping they will be going on again during our May trip.

Our friends who were there at the same time ended up going to the boutique that day and their DD3 was exhausted by the time we got to the party. They only ended up staying a little over an hour.

Naps and a low key day are key for the little ones. I also like to do it earlier in our trip if possible. It a long day and late night and I don't like to do them at the end of a trip due to the exhaustion meltdown factor. Get ready for the next day before leaving for the party or even better plan a pool morning or late character breakfast with no parks in the am. Our boys are maniacs so we typically just make it a lazy morning and we get to the parks when we get to the parks but with our 7am wake up calls (aka Alex and RYan) it still pretty early.

We travel to disney every year so when something different like a P&PP is being offered we tend to do it, but we have also seen pretty much everything and tend to go at a slower pace, so if we have to leave the parks right after lunch and have a really lazy day the following day due to pure exhaustion we can do that because if we don't get to ride something or see a particular show we know we will next year. DH and I went to the Christmas Party in December of 2000 before we had children and had a blast (we always joke that that was the night we conceived our first son), so if you want to go to the party go and your 2 year old will enjoy it.
