I posted this on the Disneyland boards, but wanted opinions from those that have never been to DL. I am in San Diego for work am I am thinking about driving to Disneyland for dinner. I have never been to DL and feel like I am so close, so why not? (I would leave in about 15 minutes :goodvibes)

Hi - We were just in San Diego in June! I love it there (we live in NJ).

Check the traffic report if you can first. We didn't go to DL (just to Legoland)... but I think it is about 90 mins. w/o traffic? I would only go if you had a specific place in mind.

This may not be what you want to hear, but I think I would pass unless you could spend the whole day there (assuming you are going up just for a few hours...). There are a GAZILLION cool places to eat in San Diego - I highly recommend Old Town for Mexican!

Have fun whatever you do :goodvibes

Did you go? :surfweb:

:goodvibes YES I DID :goodvibes
I dorve up I-5 and there was no traffic  It was a beautiful drive along the coast line with the sun setting :car:

I went to downtown Disney (which is all I planned to do). Got some Christmas shopping done and even found the little stuffed Stitch that DD and I searched WDW for in August and couldn't find. I also bought 2 of the holiday vinlymations that just came out. We started collecting these last WDW trip and love them :lovestruc I'll let DD open them when I get home. I had dinner at the bar at ESPN Zone and drove back. I was back at my hotel in San Diego by 11:30pm. It was great :)

Well, I can no longer say that I have never been to DL

DO it!:cheer2:

:thumbsup2 So glad you did it!

We went on a cruise back in March and I had several flight layover choices on the way home. I intentionally picked the one that had us in Orlando for a less than about 2 hours. I left the "secure area" with nothing but my tix, id and credit card and did a power shop at the Disney Earport store! Came back through security with several bags of gifts and things I just had to have!!! Made it back just as they started boarding us--threw my stuff in my carry on that I had kept empty on purpose. I think I bought more at the Disney store in 30 minutes than I did on our entire 7 day cruise!

The things that we will do to get our Disney fix!

So glad you did it!!! :rotfl:
It's right up there with sing like no one can hear you, dance like no one is watching... yada yada, grab life by the horns and hang on! You can't miss out on the good stuff sitting back wondering "should I?" Always JUST GO! :thumbsup2

YAY for you. I am going to WDW for 2 weeks just me in December.

Have fun and don't second guess yourself if there is something you want to do. I wish that I had left earlier, but I spent an hour asking myself should I?/shouldn't I? Like PP said - GO FOR IT! I'm glad I did :goodvibes
