Would you do HS EMM if you were me?

Going January 14. Touring plans has the crowd at HS that day at a 2. Would be booking Fast Passes for that park at 60+4. Don't have park hoppers. We do have DxDDP, so the food aspect isn't vital for us.

Cost would be $315 for my family. Outside of Toy Story Land we'd want to do RNR and my husband might do TOT. Kids are good ages for the shows, but nothing speaks to me, so we may see one if we hit the timing just right.

Part of me thinks we have all day and, if we can get a FP for SDD, we'd get done everything we wanted to do and probably still be done by mid-afternoon without spending any extra money.

But the EMM sounds intriguing since it sounds like people are getting multiple rides on SDD in that time and just the idea of having so much SPACE in a park!

What would you do?

Unless you want to ride SDD multiple times, my answer would be no. We were just there in late August and, long story short, ended up in DHS just after 8 am on a 7 am EMH day. (We weren't supposed to be there that morning, but we got up earlier than expected and were staying at BWI and thought, what the heck? We also were trying to get to TL by RD). We got back to TSL around 8:15 am and the SDD line was at 30 minutes, Aliens was 15 minutes and TSMM was around 20 minutes (all standby times turned out to be overestimated). We did all three rides, had a snack at the Lunch Box, grabbed a Minnie Van and still made it to TSL by 10 am. So, while DHS EMM sounds really fun, if you get to DHS at RD and have a FP+ for any of the TSL rides, my estimate is it won't take you more than 60 - 90 minutes to do everything (possibly less). Yes, I agree with you, even without EMM, as long as you get to the park early, you will be done with everything you want to do in DHS by mid-afternoon.

Is this your only Hollywood Studios day? I'm assuming it is from your post, but it really is an important factor in my advice.

My advice is that, if you can definitely afford it, AND it is your only day at HS, then it may be worth considering. It assures that you can do all 3 Toy Story rides with minimal wait.

If you are iffy on the cost or if you are at HS for more than one day, then I would not do it. If you have more than one day, then you could get FPs for 2 of the 3 Toy Story rides and rope drop the other. If it is borderline on the cost, given that it is January and crowds will be average to below average, a good strategy would allow you to get two of them done in the morning before crowds get too heavy and you could have a FP for the other.

Personally, I would not pay that much for it, but we like HS well enough that we are usually there for 2 days and we are able to get FPs for 2 of the 3 Toy Story rides. That $315 can be spent elsewhere.

I wouldn't. Not with a Crowd Level of 2. I did that at the end off August. Walked straight to Slinky Dog. Was on within 20 minutes. It's a great ride (theming), but once in a day was enough. Obviously, your wait for other Toy Story Land rides is to be considered. We did Aliens w/o a FP and waited 15 min. We did have a FP for TSMM. In all, we probably spent an hour in TSL. Fun. Cute...but that's plenty for me.

Ask yourself if riding SDD multiple times without wait sounds fun? Also hammering out AS2 and TSM without wait. If the answer is yes, then I would go for it. The MK version is similar...we got 10 rides on 7DMT and a ride each on PP and Pooh. All without crowds before RD. People are reporting similar experiences with the TSL EMM. If you want multiple rides without wait, this is for you. I see the value in it as I have both the HS and MK ones booked for my upcoming trip. Just not having to be in that RD madness and saving fp's for other things is worth it. Hop on over to the dedicated TSL EMM thread too. Lots of info and trip reports there.
