Would you do high school all over again?

Yes! I loved high school. There are a few things I would do differently, but not much.

Now college, I'd go back and change most of it! I did not have a good college experience-mainly for getting involved with my ex-husband.

Sure - but only if I could go back knowing what I know now. I don't think I'd change much except to not get involved with a certain group of "friends" they really influenced my ideas on what I should and shouldn't be doing. Through them I also met my HS boyfriend, who was an abusive loser. That I'd definately change.

Otherwise HS was ok. I really enjoyed my freshman and senior years. It's just when I was involved with that guy and his friends.

I'd also not hold back on so much due to my so-called bestfriend. If she wanted a solo in choir I wouldn't try out, same with plays or boys, if she liked them I wouldn't date them even if they asked me out.

The overwhelming majority of my regrets in life deal with the guys I dated, so if I could do HS and College that is the one thing I'd change.

No burning desire to repeat high school.

But if I did I might consider not being such a typical self absorbed kid, and not taken for granted that my parents and grandparents would always be around, quietly and thoughtfully supporting and loving me. I'm sorry I didn't love them better during that time of my life, and taken the time to have appreciated the fact that there were people out there that were going to be so thoroughly proud of my every accomplishment.

I also would have been kinder to people who I thought were the enemy, and realized they had insecurities and baggage just like the rest of us.

So if I knew then what I know now, I guess I might consider it for those reasons alone. It wasn't a terrible time in my life though, and I'm grateful for those experiences that brought me to the place I am today.

I totally relate. This will sound strange to the more feelings-oriented folks on the board, but it took me forever to realize that other people have insecurities and baggage and that I had the power to hurt them tremendously. Somehow I didn't credit myself with that power until much later, maybe college.

The only thing about high school is that it is a lot different now then when I went to high school. There is much more pressure on students to excel so that they can get into the 'right' college. I didn't take my first AP course until my senior year and there weren't that many offered. My daughter is taking 5 APs as a junior and is totally stressed out. I don't know if I could handle that, even knowing what I do now. Of course, knowing what I do now, I tell the administration to go screw and stick to the honors classes and I bet I'd still get into a good college. Okay, so Harvard will miss out on my charming personality :)

Without a doubt--NO. Just the thought is revolting!!!

I'd do it again, in a minute!

The only change I would make, was to study a little harder (A Honor Roll instead of AB Honor Roll) and I would date much, much more!

Thanks, I'll pass. Come to think of it, I already passed;)

I'm not out yet, but as I see the end quickly approching, I think I would like to go back and do some of it over again, not changing too much. I'd like to have a fast forward button though, so I could go quick through the boring times!!

gometros-I agree!! There is SO much pressure to get into the "right" school. When my sister graduated just 5 years ago, the pressure wasnt even as high. I'm one of those kids that has been in advanced college prep classes since 9th grade, and this year im taking college classes. Sometimes I wonder why I worry so much!!

Hell no! Are you kidding me? I actually had a half decent time in high school but I was SUCH an idiot most of the time (well, I still am really). Heartbreak, drama, fighting, hormones...well, come to think of it, not much different from the DIS on some days. HA!

I have no desire to even go to my high school reunion! I am still friends with anyone I would want to see again!

The only time in my life I didn't like well enough to do over again was jr. high - yuck!

I liked high school and loved college. The only thing I would change about both is to take more risks. I would let the boys know I liked them and sing the solos that were offered to me. I regret having lacked the self-confidence to do those things. I really didn't date seriously until my 20's and it took into my 30's to start singing publicly. Since I can recall many specific opportunites I simply turned down, I sometimes wonder how my life would have been different had I just gone for it.

I agree. There is no way I would ever do high school again. Its hard enough to do it through your kids eyes let alone do it for yourself!!

I see you are co-mod of the teen board. My daughter hangs out there sometimes - when she has the time. MickeyMouse418. She’ll tell you her experience is the same. Her brother, who is now at Cornel, graduated 4 years ago and didn't have half the pressure she is under now. She took her first AP class as a freshman! Why don't we just do away with high school and go straight to college.
