Would you do Animal Kingdom on extra hours day?

We are going to the world Feb. 4-10 and had Animal Kingdom planned for Sunday the 6th and hopping over to MGM for the extra 3 evening hours and to catch Fantasmic. Now Animal Kingdom will be open 3 extra hours that day and MGM will close at 7. My question is how crowed do you think Animal Kingdom will be on extra hour day with it being on a Sunday in Feb?

My guess/hope would be that in early February, not enough people will be aware of the new EMH schedule for the attendance at the specific parks to be affected by it. At least that's my hope-I'm planning to do AK on Tuesday next week, when AK has 3 extra hours, but I'm doing it during the day.

We were going to go to AK on Feb. 6th as well, because this is Superbowl Sunday and I have read that the parks are empty. I would reconsider going to MGM however, because I have also, read that the National Cheerleading Competition is going to be at MGM that day. This could make the park very busy.

WHERE did you hear this? Other posts I have read suggest they are all at the All Sports Complex.

Animal Kingdom normally seems more crowded than the other parks. The walkways are narrow and the trees hang over and make it feel VERY crowded. Having said that, I don't think Feb. would be a very crowded time. Just remember it will seem more crowded than it is, and more people go to the parks on the extra hour days. I would not assume it will be too bad.

Just wondering, wouldn't the extra 3 hours be after dark? So what would we open?

I went to a site (varsity.com??) and looked at the itineraries: I think its UDA that will have a celebration at MGM Sunday, Feb.6, at MGM. They will be staying at the AS and CBR. I'll try the site again and post the info.

We did AK until 8:00 over Thanksgiving weekend. It was great being there at night. The K Safari did close at dusk and it will for your trip also. Dinoland was hopping! I thought a lot of people wouldn't know that AK was opened late but I was wrong. After Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade the crowds did lighten up considerably.

The Boneyard
Dinosaur
Festival of the Lion King
It's Tough to be a Bug!
Kali River Rapids (seasonal)
Kilimanjaro Safaris (seasonal)
Primeval Whirl
Tarzan Rocks!
Tree of Life
Triceratop Spin

I'd go at night at least once just to experience AK "after dark". I do foresee, however, the same type of big crowds that EMH causes in the morning, particularly once more people learn about it.

We're going 1/16 for after hours. We were planning to hang out in Dinoland - guess alot of people do the same!

I'll trip report our success or failure when we return. :cloud9:
