I am an avid planner and am starting to look ahead to a 2014 trip...want to get a grasp and start making a list of meal ideas to determine if the DDP will be worth if for us as well as have a plan of action ready when reservations pop open. That being said, would you do a character breakfast on thanksgiving morning and then hit the parks later in the day? I mean with FP+ we would book attractions later in the day and we plan for that day to be a low key day anyways. Thanks.

That sounds like a great way to start the holiday. I would book Crystal Palace first thing in the morning. That way, you won't have an issue getting into MK if the park reaches capacity. You will already be there.:)
29 trips to Disney World and counting...next stop POFQ March 2014

I was debating on Maybe doing Tusker House and then later in the day popping over to Hollywood Studios.

We love the food & character interaction @ Tusker House. We like to eat around 10:30 so we can get a little of both breakfast & lunch! :)

I'd say that would work out well. We love TH and AK is not an all day park for us.

Its really fun to do a character breakfast, but you will be giving up that early morning in the park time to ride anything. With it being Thanksgiving Day and one of the busiest days of the year, that might not be a good thing if you want to actually ride something at Animal Kingdom.

How is the lunch there? Specifically kid friendly food for non exotic eaters

We went for thanksgiving a few years ago. We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast, then spent most of the day touring the resorts to see the Christmas decorations. From the masses of people around the MK gates when we zipped by on the monorail, there is no way i would have wanted to be in there! We had dinner at Boma that evening, then played mini golf afterwards.

We were fortunate that Thanksgiving Day was day 7 of our trip, and we had already done all of our must-dos multiple times.

It will be our 2nd to last day and we were thinking of either doing this or just doing one of the monorail resorts as we will be staying in that area and then doing Hollywood studios in the evening. Just trying to figure out how many character meals are worth it.

How many character meals do you have planned, and how old are the children in your party, if any?

When our boys were little, we loved the character meals. The cost wasn't that big of a deal because the children's price wasn't too bad. However, now that both our boys are "adult" for pricing, and the older one doesn't want anything to do with characters, we only do one per trip.

Sure I would. Although I'm not big into character meals because of the $premium that Disney charges but a nice buffet breakfast would be great.

Sounds like a great idea to me! I had a wonderful trip to WDW a few years ago over Thanksgiving. We had Thanksgiving dinner at Biergarten and it was one of the best meals I ever had at Disneyworld. A character meal for breakfast that day would sound like a great way to start the day!

A character meal sounds like much more fun than fighting the crowds to the rides. I'd try for a meal before the park opens, so that you could enter ahead of the crowds. Or I'd schedule a meal at a resort and take the morning to go look at all the resort decorations.

My family and I always do a character breakfast Thanksgiving morning. We normally try to get a 8 am time if available but we spend the whole day in Epcot and never have problems with times for rides or meals.
