Splash Mountain last day before refurb is Sunday Aug 27. My schedule currently is water park on Sunday and Magic Kingdom on Tuesday Aug 29. Tuesday Aug 29 is MNSSHP night so the park closes at 7pm, but the theory is that the day is usually less crowded than other days. Switching my MK day to Sunday I think means changing to a more crowded day, but MK has later hours on Sunday, so maybe that evens out.

Does anyone have any experience with the last day before refurb? Is it likely to be crazy crowded? I am assuming that if we go at rope drop we'd be able to ride splash twice fairly easily. I'm also assuming that I'd be able to get a fast pass at my 60 day mark.

Thanks for your input

Majority of people will have no clue splash mountain will be going down for refurb the following day. If you do switch your days you could easily ride splash multiple times that night with little wait

I changed my schedule to accommodate the splash mountain refurb. It's a favorite so we don't want to miss it. Crowd levels shouldn't be too bad and I agree with CAS, a lot of people won't realize. I say try to fit it in if you can!

I think I got switched. The killer is 'ohana. I can't get that dinner switched...I'm in WDW for 15 nights and I can't find another time that suits us. Ugghhh...

Is this at the beginning of your trip or the end? If you're going to get to ride SM on a different day, then I'd leave it and not worry about SM on Tues. and just enjoy the low crowds, but if it'll be the only chance you have to ride SM, then I'd consider switching it, but it will be considerably more crowded then on a Tuesday when the park is closing at 7pm. We do this time every year and the weekends are much busier than the weekdays and the days at MK when MNSSHP are happening, are very low crowds (until a little after 4 when they start letting everyone in).

Yes I would. It is DS's favorite ride. We don't go very often like others on this board so we would probably change the dates of our entire vacation. Some rides are that important to us so flipping two dates is a definite yes.

We arrive Aug 26. Aug 27 is our first park day and the last day Splash is open. I had planned on a water park on Sunday and Magic Kingdom Tuesday, thinking like you that Tuesday would be the a lower crowd day at MK.

I would switch it. Splash is one of our favourites. We arrive on the 26th and already had MK in our plans for that afternoon/evening, but I'm also now planning to hop over on the night of the 27th (an Epcot day for us) to squeeze in one or two more rides before it goes down.

It will be, but I'd switch it so you can do SM. We'll be there too and at one of the water parks that Tues. Lol.

Arriving on August 26 after a DCL cruise. Planned to visit DHS on August 26 and have my Pixar/Fantasmic dining package booked. Planned to visit AK on August 27 and have ROL dining package booked. Hopefully Disney would extend August 26 MK hours since it's a Saturday (MK was open until 12 am on August 27 Saturday in 2016). I may hop over to MK after DHS closes. I also have added visiting MK before heading to AK on August 27 to just ride Splash Mountain at Rope Drop.

Yes, I have to change plans in order to ride it before it closes for refurbishment!
