Would you change your flight?

I am supposed to be flying home thru Baltimore October 8. Which is when the weather forecasts Hurricane Matthew to be off of the coast. Should I change flights and try to fly thru a different airport?

Now? No. It's too early to know where Matthew will end up. Unless it won't cost you much. Unless you're on Southwest it will probably cost you.

If the airline calls a travel advisory you'll be able to change the flight without extra cost, but you have to wait until they call it.

I would keep the flight for now, Oct 8 is too far out. I'm assuming you are flying SW. Baltimore is their hub I would keep flights through there regardless because you will likely have more options if something does get delayed.

Southwest will post a travel alert on their website or app if they anticipate any weather issues related to the storm. Once that alert is posted you can change to any flight for free. If you change now it will likely cost you because I bet the price of the ticket has gone up since you booked.

We fly through Charlotte on the 7th and I'm not changing anything right now.
First, I wouldn't change till the airline allowed a change without any fees.
Second, it's just too soon to know what Matthew will be doing in a week.
I will keep an eye out for sure and if a change is needed, I'll make one

I'm on United the night of the 6th.

Still don't know for sure where Matthew is going that far out.

United is the only airline that has not at this time posted ANY travel advisories regarding Matthew. Maybe they don't fly to Jamaica or Haiti.

Southwest now has advisories too. Keeping a close eye and thinking we may have to leave early or at least change our connection out of Baltimore to Chicago

Matthew should now be very concerning to anyone traveling to (or from) Orlando on Thursday or Friday.

Still no US travel advisories from the airlines. If I get a chance I will be switching my flight from Thursday night to Thursday afternoon.

Matthew is being compared to Floyd, and Floyd closed the parks for a day in 1999. Friday appears to be the day to watch.

Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, American and United all have waived change fees to and from Orlando from Wednesday to Sunday. A quick check of Frontier and Spirit are also showing no fee travel changes.

I'm now officially starting to panic. We have 9 people flying out of PHL into MCO on Saturday 10/8, arriving at 12:30 pm. I thought we would be fine but the storm keeps slowing down.

I don't know why people would want to continue to go to Florida. You get there and be forced to evacuate and you have no plans in place on where to evacute to. I for one do not want to go somewhere where the winds will be 80 mph in Orlando. You will get there and all the stores are out of food so you will be out of luck if the worst should happen. Just stay home people.
