As a Marriott owner (3 weeks) I would absolutely wait to see how the points program rolls out before I buy. The way it has been introduced has been horrible.

So confusing to existing owners and to Marriott employees. You could call the official Marriott number 10 different times and get 10 different answers to the same question. (Go over to the tug website to get an idea of what I am talking about.) I was so excited about the program until the details or potential details began to emerge. No clear explanation from Marriott on ambigious elements of the program.
I can not tell you how much I wish Marriott had followed Disney's program. I have loved our Marriotts for 11 years and have received wonderful trades with them using Interval. But I fear those days may be over. The program goes live on July 26th and then we will get a true idea of how it will work.
As far as cost, I believe the point cost would convert in DVC dollars to $96.00/pp with maintenance fees at $4.00/pp cost. In theory you would have all of Marriott's timeshare resorts to choose from. But there are so many catches that only time will tell if you will actually be able to book at the resort you want, when you want.
I was a huge Marriott cheerleader until the last 3 weeks. Now I feel like a second class weeks owner.

Marriott is going to make it so easy for DVC to sell Aulani. If I were on Oahu and went to a Ko Olina sales presentation at each resort, back to back, hands down I would choose DVC.

Too many unknowns with Marriott.
Thank you for letting me vent!
