We have a Wii which the kids use in the LR. I would like to get a Wii for upstairs so I can get a Wii Fit Plus or one of the dancing games. New ones
are $199. I saw a couple used ones on Craigslist for $150. Would you buy a
used Wii?

Not to save $49.

It would need to be very inexpensive. Probably less than $100 for me to buy used. Doubtful even then- I don't like used electronics.

My thoughts exactly.

No -- only because Wii consoles have internal memory, and who knows what the previous owner downloaded into that machine...

Not unless I knew the person selling it personally and knew it was in great shape. Otherwise it is worth the $49 (IMO) to know if something goes wrong Nintendo will fix it for me.

In the past, Nintendo made really durable consoles. I've owned every single one since the NES days, but my Wii was the first to ever die on me. Apparently it's rather common with the Wii (though not nearly as bad as the Xbox 360)... so there's no chance I'd buy a used one. Buy new and feel safer with the warranty.

I'm seeing a lot of deals lately that include the Wii and a game valued at around $50 for $199. For the difference, I'd much rather get a new console and a good game than risk buying a Wii used if I didn't know the previous owners.

I'm with everyone else on this one, I would pay the $199.00 and have a warranty then the $150.00 and have nothing to show for it if something was wrong.

That stinks, because we have one that we've played 10 times! We could use the money, lol. Ahhh well.

I'd just buy a new one. Regardless of what you plan to use it for now. You may find yourself using for games other than WiiFit.

Just curious as to why you don't use the Wii more? :confused3

Because I don't really have time and I'd rather be on the DIS, DH is a "hardcore" gamer who prefers the xbox, and DD is too young. Not that the Wii is bad, it's just not for us. This is actually our 2nd, we sold our first during the Wii boom, and then my mom insisted on getting this for us for Xmas. :confused3

Yes but only through someplace that offered a warranty. We purchased ours through gamestop and they offer a 30 day warranty. They also throughly inspect their merchandise before they sell it. We've been very happy with our purchase and at the time there were no other deals available.

I bought a used Wii but it was from my coworker, and he had only had it for 2 months, and they played it for like 1 month and that was it. He was going to sell it to gamestop but they offered him soooo little for it.

I would NOT buy a used one off of Craigslist, basically because I had my first Wii stolen and I just could never think that they weren't stolen, especially if they're sold with a ton of games - I am traumatized I guess! I know it's crazy haha. But, especially not for $50 savings would i buy it used off craigslist. I think that's how much they are used at gamestop?

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one off someone I knew, as I did. But I paid $150 (I think, it was like 5 months ago) and got an extra wiimote and the wii play game with it, and the warranty card as well, and well everything as he had the box and its contents.

Too bad you don't live closer, maybe we could make a deal,
I'd like to think the ones on Craigslist are the same thing - that people
bought them or got them for gifts and then found they didn't use them
as much as they thought they would. :rolleyes1

I know, right? Haha I'd have to tell my mom it's "in the wash" or something. :lmao: I know she'd notice it's missing... ugh!

I'd bet there's definitely a good percentage of people out there on Craigslist with the same problem, too. Sure some people are shady, but not all of us! We're just not Wii-ers!
