ok I know my trip is 11 months off but ive run a quick comparison of prices between Va and BA and BA price is £2400 whilst VA want £3200
I prefer to fly from manchester but saving that kind of money ill fly from Gatwick !!
Would you consider it a risk to buy from Ba after all the talk of them going bust ??? Im amazed by the price and have run it through several times and it always comes to the same. Would you book or wait ???

I'll be honest, I'd be a bit wary of booking BA. But then you never really know what's going to happen with any company these days so who knows :confused3 I'd say though with a price difference like that I'd book and use a credit card and get some good travel insurance as soon as you book!

I would say it is unlikely but negative talk starts a downward spiral ... ... ...

I don't trust any airline any more - just protect yourself financially through using a credit card or booking a package for ATOL protection.

Having said that - even if you are financially protected it is seriously stressful and troublesome having to rebook (thanks Globespan).

Who's up for building a landbridge?! :rotfl:

Personally I don't think I would.

Like a previous poster said, I don't really trust any airline anymore, but I would be wary of BA with recent events.

I'm flying with BA througout the year and then to Orlando in Sept and yes...I am a little worried but I would be feeling the same about any airline. If it wasn't for the Unions and the media we woudln't be feeling this stressed about airlines!!!

BA are to join ranks with Iberia (as far as I am aware) and they are still thinking about joining ranks with American Airline (or maybe it was United) also so I doubt they are going to go down that big black hole anytime soon. I really like flying with BA so I hope they pick back up.

Plus if we all sprinkle pixie dust on them they will be fine... I need my Disney fix so I'm sending BA lots of good vibes =)

I've noticed a price difference too, I think with all the bad publicity ba are being more competitive (good on them virgin are a complete rip off!). Like others have said you can't trust anyone but at the stay time the fact other airlines are interested in merging with ba means they are not a complete dead loss.

I much prefered ba over virgin - nicer planes, better set back tv, food etc I would book with them - but protect myself with my credit card!

Never used them but we need the competition - prices are bad enough. So here is some Pixie dust ( I never though of sending some to poor globespan...!!)

I'd still book with them, despite the bad press. I just hope they'll get themselves out of the mess. At that price difference I'd take the risk. Like others have said, use a credit card. Also, consider getting travel insurance that covers for airlines going under. Not all insurances cover this, you should be able to find the info on moneysavingexpert.com (that's where I got it from last year).

Not a chance that BA will go bust. If it got into a serious position, it would certainly be bailed out by the Government.

We have booked with BA for October, I am not massively concerned and I don't think I would feel any safer with another airline. I tend to agree with Kevin that something would be done if an airline the size of BA was in serious difficulty - the knock on effect across the industry would be too much for the economy to bear, and in itself, it is a viable company that is just facing the nightmare of necessary restructuring. I hope I don't end up eating my words :wizard:

I flew with BA this year and I'm booked with them again for next year.

Thanks Guys,
We dont actully have a credit card so im unable to cover myself like that !!
I will however find out about th etravel insurance and hope that I dont live to regret the stalling for a while !! I mean £2400 fro 6 of us can be right can it ???
Might ask my family if they have a cc we can use too as we can give them the money straight away its just about buying peace of mind isnt it !!
