Would you be offended to be invited to a party at the last minute?

I'm surprised about all the people who say they wouldn't be bothered. I would definately assume I was "B" listed. I wouldn't be offended if friends had a party and didn't invite me - I know you don't always invite everyone. But the last minute invitation would make me :confused3 .

This time of year I would find it tacky. People have a lot on their plates around the holiday time and not a lot of extra time. If you really wanted me there you would have invited me earlier.

If it were someone I was close to, it would hurt my feelings if invited at the last minute. If an aquaintance invited me at the last minute, I would be fine with that.
This is how I would feel, too. On the other hand, if it's someone I was close to, if I wasn't invited and knew about it, I'd be even more hurt if an invitation never came. It would depend on how the last minute invitation was handled, also. If it was an oversight and handled as such, I might feel a little B listed, but if I was able to go, I would get over myself, go, and have a good time. But I have (had, actually) one friend who would be the type to say, "I had a lot of no shows, so now I have room for you". I dropped her as a friend. I'm still friendly to her when I see her out and about, but I don't have the energy to put into someone like that. :)

I am glad that I am not totally crazy. We aren't going to issue the invites, but I am going to put them on the list for next year for sure. It is just so hard when you are inviting part of a group and not all of it. I did finally realize that it is "my" party though and I should invite who I want regardless.

Just for the record, it is a family party so there is no need for sitters. It is also a have fun kind of gathering so you aren't expected to bring anything but yourself and some holiday cheer (mental kind, not liquid kind).

Nope I wouldn't be offended at all. In fact, it would be great if I were invited last minute all the time. Great excuse to say , "Oh I'd love to attend, but I already have plans I can't get out of.". I hate parties.
