Would you be mad if....

Because obviously people are picking and choosing which words to read...... So I figured I would repeat myself!!!!!! I said SOMETIMES.........
I have a great repect for teachers but like every profession out there, there are some bad apples. As hard as it is to believe I am sure there are some teachers out there that have been calloused.
I was NOT trying to cause a debate but apparently that is what I did.......
SO SORRY TO ANYONE THAT I MIGHT HAVE OFFENDED

TF,
You are correct, I am not a teacher nor do I play one on TV. ;)But I have children who attend school, for what it is worth.

I just think too many parents are looking for problems under any rock they can find. So, your childs name is on the board, will they need therapy over it? So, they don't wear one of their shoes for an hour or two, will they survive the trauma? They are learning cause and effect.

I say, be glad your child has a teacher who runs a tight ship. They may not be 'fun', but the are teaching your child a great lessson when they enforce personal responsibility/accountability.

It doesn't sound like the child was punished. She wasn't given silent lunch and didn't miss playtime. Having your name on the board sounds more like a "don't do it again" warning. What's wrong with that?

You would be surprised how many teachers with advanced degrees and national board certification don't make enough money to comfortably support their families. These same teachers are having to spend an enourmous amount of their own money on supplies, copier paper, printer ink, classroom decorations, etc... So what's wrong with implementing a measure to even slightly minimize that expense??? In many middle schoolers change classes. So the teacher in one day would see at least 4 classes X 35 students/class. That adds up over the course of a 180 day school year.

I think situations like this is the reason why there are so many behavior problems in schools. Mom storms down to the school for every imagined slight. Kids need to learn responsibility, not "do what I want mom will come down and ***** and I won't get in trouble".

And for the other posters that have offered backpacks, etc... my school only allows backpacks in lockers only, and the last core class of the day...

The administration is worried about what could or couldn't be concealed in backpacks/purses.. so they don't allow them during classroom time with the exception of the final core of the day.

The only reason they are allowed in the final core of the day is that is when the entire school gets let out, and the hallways are jammed with kids, and they don't want the student to miss the bus if they are still attempting to fight the crowd of students and also do that.

And with orthotics, special needs.. there are some exceptions to the shoe/pencil rule, and the teachers for the most part are pretty aware of who can/can't do that.

So the lesson here is that if you want to take someone out in class, wait till last core.
