This is what the cashier at Walmart asked me last night. She never said a word to me the entire time she was ringing me up, (even after I said "hi" to her), and she kept sighing and never smiled. She bagged my items, gave me my change, and as I was about to leave she asked, "Would you be interested in ending world hunger?" I didn't expect her to say that. I didn't expect her to say anything really. The first thing out of my mouth was, "Not today." As I was leaving, I heard her mutter, "fine".

When I got outside, I turned to my daughter and started laughing. The more I thought about it, the funnier it seemed. I mean, who WOULDN'T want to end world hunger!?! It seemed an odd thing to ask or an odd way to put it. Maybe if she had instead asked, "Would you like to make a small donation to end world hunger?", I would have had a better sense of what she was asking.

"Not today". What kind of an answer was that!?! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I guess it was probably better than saying, "No, I'm not interested in ending world hunger". :confused3

Kinda strange a cashier would be asking that :confused3 . Are they collecting money at your Walmart or any Walmart for world hunger recently? I can see if Walmart or anyone compassionately asks and has the donation can there at the check-outs. If I had a chance to think about it, I would say that I thought that's why we had the Live Aid concert in 1985 in the first place? All the money that was donated from that concert should have helped world hunger about 20 times over.

Every time the stupid pizza guy delivers our pizza, he always says "Enjoy your pizza" that's a pretty normal thing to say.

My response however is ALWAYS "you too". Now that is dumb! Do I think he is going back to his car to scarf on a slice? My husband always rolls his eyes. No matter how much I prepare myself, I still say it.

I didn't see any donation cans, signs, or anything that would have explained the question. It seemed totally out of the blue. Like I said, she wasn't very pleasant to begin with and I didn't expect her to say anything, so I was kind of stumped when she asked me if I was interested in ending world hunger!

Maybe it was some sort of survey on compassion and I flunked. :confused3

That's kinda I don't know weird that she brought it up like that.

ROFL...this is sooo funny. Once, a cashier asked me if I wanted to end diabetes. I said 'No'

I like "not today" better.

And the saying you too to the pizza guy...I do that all the time!

I believe Wal-Mart is matching donations to Americas Second Harvest, up to $5 million. Not sure if that's still going on but I saw commercials for it.

Not today :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
This had tears rolling down my cheeks. Maybe you shouldn't toss your hat into the ring for the Miss America paegent. They all want to end world hunger and this could come back to bite you in the but. :rotfl2: :lmao:

How about...."You first".:rotfl:

Or I think of "Pulp Fiction" and I might say..."hmmmm....not the normal mindless chit-chat. You have something to say." Then ask for elaboration.:lmao:

She is lucky dh and I weren't in her line. That is opening yourself up....;)

It probably would have been interesting to stick around and hear what other customers gave as responses! :lmao:
