They posted they cannot remember a dinner party that served those items--so I was joking that I make that and I'll have to remember not to invite them. Har har--funny funny. I guess not.

Wasn't directed towards you. I thought the part where they mentioned cheap wine and me implying that is what I served was the dead give away.

that's definatly true because i've had some expensive beers that were disgusting, and i'm happy just drinking my Corona or Landshark which is like $7 for a 6 pack

food allergies is totally understandable tho. no one will argue with that.

that's why i said i think she didn't explain herself correctly. maybe if she had ORGINALLY came out and said "he's done stuff like this all the time and he's always making people feel bad" in the original post, maybe people would have thought different. she didn't say it until later and i can see where she's coming from, now.

sometimes there's just that ONE person that gets on your nerves, even doing stupid small things, you know? rather it be a co-worker, family member, etc. there's always SOMEONE that gets to us all the time no matter how much we try to not let them get under our skin.

I don't have food allergies, but I have food sensitivities--I Can't tell you how many years it took me to get DH's family to finally realized.

My SIL actually encountered me one time after a few years and actually commented at my rudeness and how not nice of a person I was to not appreciate the food her family makes in the format they prepare it.

So I had to have a "heart to heart" so to speak to disclose private issues that were really none of her business. Then she finally got it. And now I have to live with the fact that she knows what fried foods and excessive butter does to my....plumbing. But at least she finally shut her yap and let it go.

To this day--she goes to bat for others in the family b/c our alleged rudeness. For example--she got her panties in a wad b/c my son was playing with his cousin's "favorite" toy. A toy that got accidentally broken. She felt he shouldn't be playing with it. Only--the mother GAVE it to my son to play with.

I have to say it is annoying--but I'm really tired of getting "in trouble" with someone 7 years my junior who hasn't a clue of what arrangements I have made with host or hostesses in homes that do not belong to her.

Mommy's Time Out---highly recommend it...not the cheapest of cheap wines...but very good for when Mommy needs a time out.

IT is--but I have only foudn it at my local Publix.

It's over $6 a bottle. Worth every cheap penny.

Yay cheap stuff! We love that Boone's Farm blue drink... it's only about 3.50$ per bottle. Then again... I'll drink anything blue

Actually, chicken, pasta and cheap chard sounds wonderful. One of my favorite meals is chicken alfredo and some the best chards are the $10.00 a bottle ones. I love a glass of Yellowtail chard. And there are some great New Zealand chards out there that are really reasonable.

I just thought it funny that LIC said she knew what everybody served, so everybody should eat it as it would be palatable and would have no reason to ask for something else because there would always be something for everybody.

We have been to some doozies of parties where the hosts fancy themselves gourmet chefs and prepare a menu that can be quite bizarre. Believe me, I wish they would have served chicken and pasta. So, there are many dinner parties out there that do not serve anything that is remotely edible

And pizza is so easy to pick the toppings off that you don't like. Put fungus on my pizza, and I will pick it off

But that would probably be rude too, wouldn't it as I would not be eating what everybody else is eating?

As for Two Buck Chuck -sounds good to me. (Especially if I had a couple of glasses of wine before I came over. That way the second bottle is always good, no matter what it is.)

I'll take an unpopular stance and stick up for the OP. It sounds like they were in a separate room. In this room, all that was being offered was the choices selected by the host. It did sound like they had plenty of food to choose from. IMO, it puts the host in an awkward position to have some guests with different food/drink, which might leave other guests wondering why they weren't offered the same thing.

It reminds me of that party someone wrote about here a few years ago where the hosts had two different levels of food. If it was a separate room from the bar/restaurant, another guest might think that was happening here.

I would assume someone was being a pain in the rear if they made a point of ordering different food or drink from the other side of the venue because they didn't care for what was being served at the party. It certainly didn't sound like a case of dietary needs in the OP.

The OP didn't say it was the end of the world. She said she was annoyed. I would have been too.
