....what their grade in a class is? I just started 3 more classes and my grades are very good.... some of the other women in class who started out saying "good for you" when they asked my grade on a test are now saying "figures" Believe me I don't offer my grades... but if someone asks I'll tell them. I would NEVER ask anyone else what they got- to me that is akin to asking someone how much they weigh!

There's a guy in our MBA program who is always asking everyone what they got on tests and papers -- it's pretty annoying, and he doesn't seem to get it into his head that grades aren't really that important (but he has to be the top of the class for some reason  )

I never asked people what they got on papers or exams. There were many people who offered their information to me, maybe hoping I'd share. I would only share that information with a good friend.

I would only ask my closest friends.

I tried never to give a 'grade answer' when I was asked. A simple, "I could have done better" or " I've done alot worse" covered most of the grade questions.

Most of the exams I took in college, the grades for tests were posted outside the room...... so everyone knew what everyone got......

Ours were posted too, but by social security number. I never gave that out.

When people asked me my grades I would first try to avoid answering by saying something like candykisses said. If they persisted, then I would tell them what I got, whether it was good or bad, in a matter of fact way that implied I didn't want to discuss it further (but I wasn't rude or anything). Usually people would quit asking me.

I don't have any problems with comparing grades with close friends-it's motivational! :teeth: I don't announce them to the class or anything though.

I've always shared grade info with friends. It's no biggie. The only people in vet school who tended to hide their grades were the ones who were most competitive and all after the top-ranking spots. My circle of friends were just trying to learn and get through, and help each other to do our best.

Yep, I would. But I had most of the people in the same classes for almost 2 years. We were pretty comfy asking stuff like that. In my programming classes it was to our benefit to ask who got the higher grades and lower grades. We could figure out what went wrong with all our programs that way.

I wouldn't. In the umpteen years I've been in school, I've never asked anyone. I don't care if someone asks me, but I really don't want to know what someone else's grades are???? I don't know why they want to know what mine are either????

I never asked, but I never minded sharing if it was with someone who was just genuinely interested. If someone found out I did well and wanted me to study with them, that would be fine. But I did resent it when people asked me what I made and then told the whole class that I was the one who blew the curve. That's the kind of behavior you expect in jr high, not in college.
