On one of our Magic Kingdom days, I am going to make a lunch PS for the Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL for around 12.30/1pm. If I arrived at say 10am by car, would they let us park that early? The idea being, to get the boat over to the Magic Kingdom and do a few things before lunch (probably wont have time for much!).

Im not doing it to get out of the $6 parking (we will probably go to Epcot later anyway), I just thought it would be a nice change.

Also, do you have any problem getting on the Resort Monorails/boats even if you arent staying onsite?? We are having dinner at `Ohanas one evening and staying on to watch the Electrical Water Pageant. The car wil probably be parked at the MK car park and we would go to the Poly straight from an afternoon at MK.

Thanks!

... if you don't have Disney resort ID you usually get a temporary stay card which gives you 3 hours - the card is to be displayed on your dashboard and gives the time you are supposed to vacate the car park.

This is always a controversial topic. Clearly you need to respect the needs of onsite guests - I wouldn't be happy if I was a paying guest and couldn't park my car. Having said that, the only resort where we've ever had trouble parking is the BoardWalk and I would say that's because Disney openly advertises it as a venue in its own right (along the lines of Downtown Disney).

Last November we parked at the Poly and went for lunch at Kona Cafe and then on to MK. The car park was not at all busy and we had no compunction in parking on the periphery of the car park and putting our 3 hour pass in the glove compartment. Like you, we were not trying to avoid the parking fee (we're AP holders anyway and don't pay). I would think twice if I felt I were depriving a resort guest of a parking space, so maybe this strategy wouldn't work during busier times.

When you arrive at Wilderness Lodge, inform the security guard at the gate that you are visiting to look around the resort. Don't display your parking pass. You can freely use WDW transportation, but are you sure you can get from WL to MK by boat?

Yes Debbie! It is a really pleasant boat ride from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for the replies!

If parking looked to be a problem, then I wouldnt take advantage of it....I know how much it costs to stay at these places, and I know I wouldnt be happy if I couldnt park and I was a guest!!

We had a 3 hour parking pass at the Contempory when we did Chef Mickeys last year.....My original plan had been to get the monorail to MK afterwards, but we didnt know how stringent they would be on the 3 hour limit. We didnt risk it. There were PLENTY of parking spaces though.

Thanks again!
