Ok, would this work? I was thinking we could rent a car from budget at the airport, then go to San Diego for 3 days, then return the car to Budget on So. Harbor Blvd- about a mile from our hotel. Then we would check into our hotel for the next 4 days, and just walk to the parks - and have a towncar, or something pick us up and take us back to the airport on departure day.
I've never been to DL before- so I need help- thanks
Let me know if you think there is a better car rental place near HOJOs than Budget.

My only thought would be to check and see what kind of a fee they charge to rent and return at a different location. Ours was quite expensive when we had to do that once. Of course we were renting in St. Louis and returning it to Iowa.

I know we are trying it in July and got an amazing rate to rent the car from SNA on the 15th and return it on Katella (Dont know the company- its through AAA and my friend booked it) on the 16th for less than 20 bucks

For that price itll get my friend from the airport, me 2 Jack taco runs AND a midnight Harry Potter run

I know that National does not charge extra for returning to a different location (within a certain distance), I don't know about the other rental companies. We are planning on picking up our car at Long Beach airport for our Anaheim days and returning it at San Diego airport after our SD days. Just a thought, check to see what the rate is for the 4 days versus a week (or however many days). It may not be much of a difference, and for a few extra dollars I would just keep the car and return it at the airport, it would cost you more for the towncar to the airport I'm sure.
On another note, if I have read the maps right, there is an airport bus depot right next to HoJos. Good luck!

Thanks MrsMudd- I will check into National
Right now I've found- budget is 116.00 for LAX to the Budget on S Harbor Blvd
(in comparison to 83.00 if I were to take it back to LAX for the exact same timeframe)
This is over the weekend as well- so I'm sure higher because of that, eh?
(Budget is within 1 mile of our Howard Johnson hotel, where we would be for the remainder of the trip-so that part appeals to me)
I guess I'm chicken on the driving part- I figure the sooner I get rid of the car, the better
ha

That Airport Bus stop is gone by the HOJO and I believe they now hub at/near the DLHotel if I'm thinking right

as I was researching for our trip I discovered that towncar service is a lot more than I expected. So if you aren't afraid to drive from LAX to San Diego and then to Anaheim, I would think it would be worth it to just keep the car a few extra days (especially if you don't pay for parking at your hotel).

For example towncar service from John Wayne (Much closer airport) to Disneyland was around $120 so that's way more than you're spending on the car rental.

One way for the Execucar towncar, is $98 to the airport.
Or the shuttlebus would be $45.00 for us one way
So still cheaper than if I keep the car for the whole time....
