Would this make you mad

Ok I apologized
BTW I still think he could have mentioned it

But he didn't and there's nothing he can do about it now. It takes a big person to say they are sorry. Kudos!

Id be shocked if DH put any lights up on the house - no matter what color!

I am glad you apologized. I agree that there are much more important things to worry about than lights. Just enjoy your time together.

::yes:: (amazing how trival things aren't important anymore)

I'm with you. Be happy you have lights to put up and your family is together, there are much more important things in life to be worried about other than what color lights you have up.
It was actually dopey's biggest fan's signature that made me apologize

I do not have a preference so therefore it would not make me mad. We are always doing something different. This year it is white, we have never put up white before.

Nope I would be thrilled the lights went up and I didn't do it! LOL! Hubby isn't into decorating! Plus I like color lights. So I would be doing a happy dance!

Well, at least your husband put lights up.

Mine works long hours and wants nothing to do with decorating of any kind (Christmas or other) on his time off.

I hung white lights around the frames of our front windows; it is all I can manage on my own. I'd kill myself on a ladder.

So I'd say be grateful you have a husband that hangs lights. Not all men will.

he gets to put up the lights and I get to listen to the kids yell that they want to go outside with daddy :scratchin

I strongly believe that its the women of the house's job to decide what, where and how, and the mans job to DO what, where, how,and WHEN, SHE says it.

Otherwise, you'll be like me. I wrote on the calendar for the day after Thanksgiving "Put up Christmas lights". Nope, didn't happen. Two weeks before Christmas and he decides NOW is the time to FINALLY install the new doors in the bathroom that I bought in February. He's been working on them since 10:30 this morning. Still not done. I mentioned, "Since the doors were hanging around since February, it might have been nice to get some more pertinent things done today." Sooooo, rather than going up in the attic to get the lights, he went off the Eckerd to go buy some. So now I still have no lights, but I also have no doors on my bathroom.

You know what? I'd do it myself, but it's the principle...I end up doing EVERYTHING myself.

At this point, I'd be happy with NEON lights and an Easter Bunny! At least it's something!!

I understand your initial reaction but I think we have to remember why we are putting Christmas lights in the first place.

So Santa Claus can find the houses, right?

I don't think I would have been mad and probably would have apologized too. I put up the lights myself this year and it never occurred to me to ask DH what kind of lights he preferred nor would he have cared. I guess I figured since I was putting them up I got to choose. :D Anyway, I used colored lights and they look pretty good and I'm sure yours do too!

I think he could have mentioned that he was switching to colored lights. Personally, though, I applaud his choice in dumping the white lights in favor of color. I have only one word to describe all-white lights - boring. :earboy2:

I can relate. Last year I sent DH and my 2 DS's to buy a prelit artificial tree---my only request being that it had clear lights. Well of course they came home with rainbow lights. They love it, and it is starting to grow on me as well :)

Nope, I wouldn't be mad at him in the least. I don't care what color the lights are, lights are pretty regardless.

colored lights decorate a house..

white lights simply illuminate it

:cool1:

I like white lights best and that is what we use. I think I wouldn't mind the colored lights if they made some with more "christmasy" colors like green, red, and white. Why is pink and orange in there? I hate that.

I've never seen orange or pink with Christmas lights, yellow and purple...maybe...

if you find a store with a good selection you can get all green or all red or strings that are red & green
